  • Just been having a surf, and it seems that you can earn 12% cashback through Quidco when you buy from Quidco.

So when I am ready to buy DHs watch, I am going to go into Goldsmiths to try to negotiate a discount (£100 off a £995 watch, please!) and will be able to explain that i can buy it from their internet site with £120 cash back. I will have various bits of paper to prove this and will see how I get on!

I wish I could take babydaisys mum with me as well!

  • Aaah my decision is getting tougher and tougher! I guess the only way I am going to solve this in a hurry is if I see one at a bargain price and then snp it up! :D I also have an aunt in NJ in America, so in theory I could always send her the money and get her to purchase it for me!

Thanks for your message! Yes I plan to keep the Seiko Chronograph, but its quite 'dressy' and I thought I could do with not wearing the same watch everyday anymore since I've worn it everyday for 10 years! :D I guess I would like something with a tough/good build that I can pose in :rotfl:
Good luck in your quest but I feel you cannot do much "posing" with a £300 tag watch.

If you really want to pose I suggest finding the online watch copyers in Hong Kong and paying them to build you a great watch for a fraction of the price.

And do not worry about the quality I have a 2 grand Breitling !! geniune } that loses 5 minutes a week. And that is better than the Breitling I got rid of.

Amazing, what turns up on MSE threads! Many thanx to vj for starting this one, because without that OP I'd never have known about Christopher Ward or rtl watches -- the info from rs and topher is much-o appreciated!

How much do I need to spend on a Tag watch to pose? ;) :D:p

I've been doing a lot of Google searching and there seem to be so many 'dodgey' sellers on eBay and with their own websites selling what seem like fake watches. Be careful everyone!

Careful when buying from the Tag Heuer shop in Bicester. It may just be watches with automatic movements that this applies to, but both watches I bought from them appear to be faulty.

The first one, which I bought for around £750, I had to take back after a week because it would stop intermittently (for hours at a time) even whilst the watch was being worn. The shop assistant told me that I need to wear it continually for at least a month before it "settles" - wot rubbish!!

Anyway, I exchanged it and paid the difference to get another model that cost around £1000. It loses about 5 minutes a day!! It's gone back into its box and been left there now :(

I have had 2 tags and 2 Breitlings

All automatic and all lost ( and still lose ) at least 5 mins a week.

But it is worth it for the cool sweeping 2nd hand.

Talking of second hands, would you consider a used one? You could check out local cash converters or pawn shops.

You will get more watch for your money.
