Just thought I'd let you know what I made out of a chicken bought from the dine in for £10 meal deal at M+S

It was a ready cooked one that had a price of £6.50

I had 1/3 a breast and both chicken wings with salad and coleslaw and potato salad also part of the deal

I made a pie filling to freeze and used 1/2 a breast

I then stripped the meat from the carcass and made stock from the carcass

Half the leftover meat made a risotto for 2

The rest of the leftover meat is going in a pasta bake with some left over tomato sauce.

Will be a bit chicken-ed out after this! Really glad I am in the habit to streeettcccch it so far!

I have just bought a 2.8kg chicken at a cost of £8.50 (we live in Australia and whole chickens are more expensive over here) I want to get the most out of it so have set myself a challenge to see what I can do with it, I am hoping for:

    a roast dinner
    stock for soup
    chicken pie

Has anyone got any more ideas there are 4 of us, 2 adults an 8 year old and a 2 year old who eats a small amount.

Where do you live Buchanan? I'm in Oz too, but wouldn't normally pay that much for a whole chicken.

Burritos are good with leftover chicken. I sometimes freeze the leg meat and use that after its defrosted

If you make chicken pie try making plate pies, if you have enamel plates even better as you can make the meat go much further.

I make chicken and mushroom with condensed mushroom or chicken soup for the sauce or chicken and veg with some peppers etc and they are gorgeous. They also freeze well raw. (raw pastry cooked chicken IYKWIM)
