Ok, now I'm worried. I've won a big prize bundle with boots.com and one of them is a "professional photo shoot by Venture Photography" - does that mean I'll have pictures? Or if I'll have to pay anything? Anyone know? Thanks in advance
Thanks to all posters :A0 -
I did something a bit like this when my son was 2 and a half, just before Christmas.
I booked a session at a small local photographers. It lasted 90 minutes, they gave me a printed set of all the photos, all the photos on a CD, assigned copyright (but kept the right to use them as examples of their work), took photos of both Isaac on his own and me on my own, and both of us together. Some of the photos were posed, far more of them were taken as Isaac played with various things.
Cost £85 all in. A much, much better deal than these "offers"....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
We went to a private studio in Bridgwater called Timeless images, run by a couple. We had a fun shoot with our first daughter, and they took some lovely pics. I was expecting a hard sell at the end of it, however, all they said was "the images will be available to view on our website this eve, here is your password" They were brilliant and very reasonably priced for a studio I thought, starting at £9 for a 7x5 (was in 2008 though). Now we have 3 children and our family is complete we will go back next year when our son is a little older. I avoid those people selling "free sittings" with the likes of Venture the plague!
I would add that the reason we went there was we got our "free sitting & 7x5 print" with our Nescafe beans. When I asked the photographer if Nescafe paid them anything he said they had to pay Nescafe for the lead! what a con, Nescafe make out they're giving us a treat and the photographer has to pay them too! In the event I spent the better part of £100, because I liked the pics, I liked the small business who took them and I could afford them. Hope you're happy whatever you decided ClaireEmily.0 -
A local photographer will usually come to your house and take some photos for a very reasonable fee. They will 'stage' a small area of your lounge with your own rugs, plants, chairs etc.
Your kids will be relaxed in their own environment. Relaxed, happy people make better subjects.
You will be supporting your local economy and your pictures may be so natural and lovely that they are displayed in the window of the photographers!Support your local community. Buy British.0 -
We did this about 5-6 years ago and we all had so much fun. Have some lovely family photo's. I must admit we bought others, but I went in with a budget, told them what the budget was and never budged at any point and they were happy with that.
It was such a fun few hours and the kids had a wonderful time, in fact my daughter did a bit of modelling after becuase she had such great time
As long as you can resist the hard sell - take a friend if you can't then I would say go for it, the pictures really are lovely
