I won a "free" family photo in a raffle, we stuck to our guns and only bought the freebie, BUT we had a montage of 5 smaller pics!
They have not contacted me again strangely, however I must be lucky in raffles cos I keep on winning on Doubletake Makeover Studios and me and my daughter and my daughter-in-law all one free holidays on a "non timeshare" draw! Sadly we never made it to the non timeshare presentation (when I pointed out we had all won they said we must be a very lucky family!)

Doubletake studios take some lovely pics but our experience only lasted an hour, including make up and I was bitterly disapointed. I am very glad I didn't pay for it. The shoot was rushed but they were happy to leave us for 2 hours filling in a book full of names and numbers to get "more free stuff" and then we spent a good hour or so viewing pics aswell.0

You can cancel within a week - I did it (on the last day) and they were fine about returning my £250

Right, im not one to reply to these 'forums' but having worked for a similar company i cant not say anything! They are a buiseness not a charity arent they. £25 to pay for people chasing you to book in a date, putting the diary and shoot together for you, tailoring a personal shoot based on your individual needs doesnt take 30 seconds so they spend time getting everything together to ensure you get the great photos they advertise not crap, unedited blotchy photos that cost 50p. You sometimes on occasion pay for quality, im big on scrimping and getting discount when availible-although, me personally i couldnt have said crap photo hanging on my living room wall i'd much rather pay a little more for the best. They create life time pieces that are garenteed for a life time, they literally garentee the photo quality for a life time so if the photo does not last they will fix it FREE of charge!! The mere £25 for a HOUR photoshoot, small photo and the time they take with each customer is bloody good. You cant even get a meal for 2 in london for that much. And to be fair you went to the knightsbridge london Venture-you stupid or something?!? the most expensive place in london what did you expect???you have the power to say NO, many penny pinchers do say no. i dont see the point preparing for a shoot, spending an hour rolling on the floor having fun and taking home a piddly photo-whats the point???Of course they expect you to spend money. As i say they are a buiseness at the end of the day and they put time and effort into each shoot as if was their own so there not about to sell photos for 50p each are they. If thats what your looking for buy a disposable camera and print them off at boots.0

We went to Venture once because we brought our dad a voucher for his birthday. The photo shoot was great fun but then came the night to look at the pictures... What a hard sell! The photos were not great, in fact I really do think I could do a far better job! Then came the bit about prices... It's almost laughable how much they charge, that or cry. They start in the £100's and it just keeps going up. I was expecting a bit expensive but it was a least triple what I was expecting.
As per comment above, I understand they are a business but the prices they charge for a photo & frame is far, far too much. In fact if they were a double glazing company they would be on Watchdog!! I say get Matt Allwright on the case I want to see them on the wall of shame!

ventures photos are average and theres nothing individual about them at all, they have about five fun poses they use and thats it, the prices are disgusting and take the pee. I prefer to use individual photographers who's prices are far more reasonable and dont hard sell0 -
I don't get what's 'free' about the photo if you're paying £25?
Have they taken payment already? You could ring your bank and say you've lost your card, if not, then they'll send a new one out with different last four digits.
I would never, ever, give my card details to someone on the street like that, whoever they say they are from. Please learn from this, and be more careful, there are some proper con artists out there who could take advantage of you.0 -
I would'nt touch this company with a barge pole, at least !!!!!! Turpin wore a mask !!!0

Hi, just wanted to add - I know someone who used to work for a "similar" company and was pretty disgusted by the practices to be honest. It's all about the hard sell - they push people to come in as a couple for the viewing so they have no excuse not to make a decision then and there. If you can stick to just your free photo then it's probably a reasonable deal, but the whole idea is that people are persuaded otherwise when they see the photos.
You can get more original photos done for a whole lot less than they charge.
Oh, and there's a reason they ask for your occupation and postcode on the forms that you complete to 'win a free session and photo'.0
