If you have a CCJ and defaults on your file, you won’t get a loan from any decent lender, period. Even the ‘bad credit’ loan lenders have disappeared and you are just left with the bottom feeding Payday loan type lenders which don’t lend the amount you were looking to borrow regardless. You will have to wait out the 6 years from the date of your CCJ/defaults are settled before most mainstream lenders will touch you again.

In the meantime, probably best to look at your income/outgoings and see where you can make cutbacks to start saving for your car purchase.

That sounds like my most sensible option, im not without funds to get a newer car if needed, i just fancied upgrading again, iv no real need to really... il save my pennies for my upcoming child rather than give them to these types of people in the form of massively inflated interest :-D
  • Dancan - it's nice to see a refreshing attitude such as yours on here, most people once told they won't qualify for any loan do not take too kindly to people advising them to look at their financial situation and/or go over to the DFW board or will insult other posters.

Best wishes for your impending child :)

thankyou! ha im under no illusion that its not down to the fact i had a credit card when younger and ignored it and it got referred to a debt specialist, the CCJ i still think was unfair but by the time the people i disputed the bill with had sent it to small claims i thought il just pay it make it go away... no problems still, like i said im comfortably managing so its not essential i get one... thanks for ur input
  • Dan are your defaults/CCJ relatively old? Have you got a copy of your credit from both the CRA's (main ones) Experian and Equifax to check the information is correct? What date were your defaults/CCJ registered?

The Lower My Bills service will, when you ask it, suggest credit deals you're most likely to qualify for based on your current credit report. If your report is currently poor you're likely to see sub-prime deals suggested. As others have said, if you can it might be better to wait and see whether you can improve your credit report first before you apply for any loan. Our website should give you plenty of advice on how to do this. By the way, there's no such thing as a pre-approved credit offer. Lenders in the UK aren't allowed to look at your credit report until you give them permission.

iv texts from Aspire money saying "pre approved loan available now" now their hounding me over the phone a few times a day to take this small loan..

the creditexpert site however i cant fault i think its a great tool
  • Dan - that's good news on the default front as both of them should be removed in Aug 2011 and Sept 2011

I would definitely get a copy of your other report from Equifax too to see what is written there.

As for Aspire, next time they call ask to speak to a supervisor and tell them to remove your number from their database, hopefully that should stop any spam marketing calls from them.
