As above, has your daughter been refunded £230 ?
If no, then you should not give in on this issue - if she has, then I would still not leave this.
It is likely that this person has done something similar previously, and is trying to take advantage of people.
Either way, I would still put in a written complaint to the Driving School (is he an employee or self employed ?), I would also complain in writing to the Driving Instructors association (or whatever), not to mention the local trading standards.
If the instructor is an employee then he was trying to defraud his employer, so I am sure they will take some action.
If he is self employed and accepts cash payments, I wonder how much he declares on his tax return ? - a letter to HMRC would also be in order.0 -

no it wasnt £230 as she had had some of the lessons, he owed her £160 but said he only owed her £90.thankyou you've given me some really good ideas and l will pass them on to my daughter0 -

I'd also remind him that you can't sue someone for slander if what they are saying is true!
name and shame, if he did it to your daughter I doubt he'd hesitate to do it to someone else.0
