EGG Following the death of my father which resulted in an inquest as it was due to "Medical Error", I missed a loan payment. Got a letter from EGG so phoned to explain I was all messed up. Told "well, that was a while ago. Surely you've got over it by now". Did get an apology from a supervisor after I complained and he had to admit I'd been a model customer until then.

And of course Halifax who reduced my son to tears when they phoned when I wasn't in and they said they didn't believe him and did he know his Mum could be made bankrupt and he would get no Christmas presents

What gets me, is that these are real people saying these ugly things. How do they live with themselves?

My guess is they have incentives if they hit certain targets, so they will do anything to get it. I know a young lad who has been given a car for being top performer. How do they sleep on a bed of blood money most likely.

Not quite in the same league as some of the above, but with massive potential I'm voting for ABBEY!

My good friend and neigbour for 20 years went into a care home in Dec 2005, as she has no family, I have taken on Power of Attourney for her, as she had a number of finanical affairs to sort out to fund her stay in the home. The POA was all sorted in Feb 2006, and duly delivered to all banks that required it....

Barclays took us into a private office GAVE US A CUP OF TEA...and did it on the spot!

ABBEY were difficult and obstructive from the start, they had our solicitor spitting mad by not acepting his legalisation of documents and insisting on originals from a safe, they took in the paperwork eventually ... and promply LOST IT (this is a legal document remember) not ONCE but TWICE and the branch manager would not call me back whenever I asked him to, and would not make himself available to see me.... and of course the POA office wouldn't speak to me at all - because I didn't have POA (DUH!) Both my friend and I had accounts at the same branch and the counter staff knew us both!

TO THIS DAY JAN 2007......they haven't sorted it. One of the main things we wanted was for her financial post not to go to a care home....as there is a security issue with this. Barclays accepted her letter of change of address before the POA for this reason!!!!

We gave up on Abbey in September 2006, when I thought of a way round it.....my friend still has all her marbles fortunately so....she simply wrote a cheque transferring her substantial balance to her other bank account, and we changed all the debits to that account to the other - they now have this account sitting there empty with no money in or out and it serves them right!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if you are likely to be in a Power of Attorney situation with a relative that has an account with ABBEY - get them to move it ASAP while they still can - I believe their policy to be deliberatly obstructive, after all.....what possible financial benefit to them is somebody in need of a POA likely to be???? In this case...they lost a substantial investment that was waiting to be cashed in, SHAME :rotfl:

    Regards
