I nominate Barclays after the phone call I got from them last night.
Horrible jobsworth - 'I'm superior to you' type, really rude and abusive. (I'd gone £3 over my overdraft limit, made it sound like over £3m). Rang Barclays complaints dept today. They are are looking into it - say all phone calls are recorded.
If so, this bloke is heading for the sack. Will go into further details in another forum - bank charges

Brokenhearted's is the "winner". How awful. That's disgusting

Some aren't just insensitive, they are completely lacking in common sense and brains.

I had a bizarre conversation with Northern Rock a few weeks ago re the payments on my DMP. We had the usually - we want more money discussion. I explained that I had no more money to pay them.

Got the usually - are you serious about paying this debt back retort.

Cut back on something from your budget - what do you want me to do - don't eat, don't heat my home, etc?

Pay us even an extra £1 per month. Don't have it I responded.

However, I did explain that because a payment I was making for other credit was coming to an end in a couple of months I would be able to increase payment under DMP by nearly 50% - but they would have to wait just under 3 months. No that won't do they replied.

So £12 per year increase ok - but £400 per year increase not acceptable? I might have got myself into a heap of debt so financial judgement might not be my strong point, but does this make sense to you?
  • No, madduck, it doesn't make sense at all.

Speaking to jobsworths is like hitting your head against a brick wall.

But don't give up - demand to speak to his/her superior.

Don't let the b's get you down

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

  • I nominate Halifax who phone the hospital to check DH was there incase I was lying about his condition. Sick barstewards.

I'm no expert but I work in a job where we handle personal information so my Data Protection antenna is always on and this sounds completely out of order. Information about a person's medical history is classified as "sensitive data" so the rules are stricter than for just name and address details. I would complain to the Information Commissioner - if nothing else Halifax will have to go to the trouble of dealing with the complaint as they will not want to fall foul of the IC.
