I buy the meat, cheese, sausages, yogurt.

All very good quaility and well worth the 100 mile round trip once a month for me to stock up.

If you drink soft drinks like pepsi or coke they are far cheaper at costco most of the time eg yesterday I got 8 2litre bottles of pepsi for around 60p per bottle. can be well over a pound in asda

Alcohol is not so good although I have picked up some offers on the wine lately so its worth a look

The new chilled meals are lovely if you are entertaining or just hungry:o Fish pie and lasagne is :T

Also a costco meat fan - its gorgeous and whilst not much cheaper its quality is second to none

The passport offers are well worth having - you end up with loads of loo roll or kitchen towels in the house but its a big saving:D

Off the top of my head it can also be great for books, bedding, birthday/xmas cards and paper, electicals (3 year guarantee and they never seem to quibble if you take something back), crisps - large selection pack yesterday of Walkers worked out at 7p per pack.

Like anywhere i guess you have to be canny, its only a bargain if you will use it all. give it a go you will get hooked i bet:D

I like their own label decaff coffee beans, by Starbucks, good price, but more importantly, really nice.

If you need glasses or contact lenses its worth having a look at their opticians section. I've saved about £100/pair on glasses for my OH and DDs and my contact lenses are considerably cheaper than I used to pay at D and A.

i dont think there are any passport offers at the moment.

i tend to stock up on huggies nappies. they are 22.99 a box and when the passport offers !!! up, its £15off when u buy 2 boxes. at one point i went and they were selling 2 boxes for about £18! cant remember how many nappies in box but its 3 carry packs per box.

also they have the johnsons wipes boxes, 3 for 2 which work out bout 80p a pack

Their contact lenses are well priced but when I looked at glasses with reactions lenses the other day they were more than twice the price of Specsavers.

Birthday cakes are great, I got a huuuugggeee one the other day with names on it for £9.99, it was beautiful and well worth the money.

We buy lamb, mince, chicken and fish, the steaks are huge and as someone said above we cut them in half as the are really thick. We buy packs of chicken portions and freeze in smaller portions, ditto the salmon. Their tubs of prawns and seafood cocktail are good value. The meat is really good quality and I'd rather buy Costco meat than pay the same amount for meat from a normal supermarket. We also buy toilet roll, kitchen roll etc. Their packs of greetings cards, wrapping paper etc. are good.

Their returns policy is fantastic, they have a record of everything you buy and if it's faulty you don't have to try to find the receipt (always a problem for me!).

As said, you need an idea of the cost of what you are buying, some things aren't cheap, some are the same price but better quality.

    I love the place!

Thank you so much for the replies, and thanks for merging thread PP, I did do a search but as ever, I didn't see wat i was looking for!!!

I will go over to the shop don't drop board and have a look there too....

I had the luck of trying their burgers whilst looking round on the sample trays, they were absolutely gorgeous. and from what i could see hadn't shrunk much once cooked.

I think I will join and try it out, it is less than 10 min drive from me....although i haven't got a car at the moment, i bet someone will be willing to take me;)

Their mince is very good quality and I make HM burgers from that so I imagine their fresh burgers are nice. I've bought their frozen burgers for the freezer when I didn't have time to make any and they were good.

What I really like about Costco is that I don't think I've ever had anything "duff" from them, if they sell it then you can be pretty confident that it's worth trying AND if it's no good you can take it back. Their own brand (Kirkland) is always good value and I'm struggling to think of anything that hasn't been good quality?

We've been this afternoon and I bought a tray of pork chops, lamb chops and a tray of boneless, skinless chicken thighs (much cheaper than breast and more flavour). I love the quality of their meat and will pay more for the happy tummy effect. I also buy magazines there as they have, I think, 10% off UK publications, Glamour, Good Housekeeping and others, and 20% off USA mags which means I get some US ones for less than the usual UK priced mags although I must concede there are far more ads in the American mags.
