What do people think of the physically backed Gold iShares which launched in April?:

    http://uk.ishares.com/en/rc/products/SGLN

Given that it is exchange traded, backed by physical gold (and therefore matches price movements almost perfectly) and has only 0.25%p.a fee, it seems the best way forward.

    Am I missing something?

gold to 5000 all sounds fair if they do nothing to support dollar value. The miners are too cheap but have the problem of rising energy cost, a couple miners are trying to cover that

The paper ones you mention are all US I think, so when you buy or sell there's also a currency difference......

Never been able to establish which of the gold backed ETF's etc., are allowed in S&S ISA's and the like.
Doubt if there will be any response of IFA's and their groupies, but any info would be welcomed.

As getting close to finishing work, would be keen to find out what could be put in a 'tax free wrapper' to produce an income stream.

Somebody said that Digger Mansions has more than enough physical...'off the radar', already.
I really haven't a clue what they are talking about.

Many of you will have heard of the above theory.

A regular on the UK thread on Kitco, Tanta, has an interesting thread asking for support. Click the link please.

Thats the point, you are better off buying real gold and silver bullion and taking delivery. You have no ongoing costs.

The top of this bull run in gold and silver could be years away yet, I do not want to be paying charges all those years.

There is (or was) a question mark over whether US-based ETFs qualified for ISAs. Don't know whether this has been resolved.
