I put off trying these for ages because of the bad reviews, but last week thought for £1.00 for jug + 2 bags of milk it was worth a try.

    And I love it!

No spills, pours brilliantly - I am impressed......and surprised how good it is :j

Sadly a lot of people are. I admit that it's not idiot proof, you have to be careful otherwise you can get leaks but most of the time it's fine. I think they're actually using thicker plastic because it's harder to pierce the bags than it used to be, the spike can actually push the bag down rather than pierce it.

If you do make a mistake, like piercing the side of the bag as well as the top, then you can always remove the bag, rinse the jug and put the bag in backwards and make a second attempt. Since you tip it forward nothing will come out of the back as long as you don't tip it backwards.
  • i bought one yesterday with 2 milk bags to try it, and up to now im quite impressed. It was quite fiddly to put together, but as long as you follow the instructions its more or less idiot proof

You'd think that having a PhD in Engineering I'd be able to get the thing to work without spilling all over my fridge and worktop :o. Alas, I can not. The design, IMO, is therefore fundamentally floored. I can not for the life in me understand why you can't just pour it in a certain jug and use it.

And as this is a Moneysaving forum, you can get four pints for £1 at the moment anyway - in proper bottles. The plastic is also recycled whereas these little plastic bags are not. Or at least my council don't.
I am firmly across the line. I won't impose my values on you if you keep away from mine.

Got these from Sainsbury which is 5 miles away and do not normally shop there.

The jugs don't seem to work very well BUT where we usually shop (Tesco or ASDA) do not have the bags.

happy to persevere if the bags are readilly available!!

why not just pour the bagged milk into a empty normal 2 pint bottle?
life is like a loo roll. the nearer the end you get, the faster it goes.

Have to say I've been pretty impressed with mine. Have frozen one bad, nice to know it'll keep fresh and it won't go off by the time I get to the end. And it fits in the smaller compartment of my fridge, freeing up the bigger section. Have had no problems here with using it. No leaks so all in all a gd thing.
As a previous person said tho, when you can get 4 pints for a £1 anyway, its not an amazing deal

    Maybe you're overthinking it :D

You could pour it into the jug I'm sure but I assume using the bags reduces the risk of hygine issues from people reusing the same bottle. You could pour it into the jug-it yourself although it'd be pretty hard to pour out

no, you can't do this. the jugit does not work unless there's a bag inside.
