Yeah I keep setting off without it now where possible its just a case of trying to break the habits I had drilled into me as a learner.

I know it sounds big headed but I feel quite proud of myself.

Making the mister take me somewhere soon to practice parking- of all kinds. Now that will be fun as we all know how bad women are at parking huh gypsy ;)

Everything will be ok in the end, and if it isn't ok then it isn't the end :)

its quite interesting to read what people say about the P plate thing.

In Northern Ireland, R plates are necessary for a full year after passing your test, its commonplace to see them and I think they work really well.

why on earth would someone treat you like dirt because you are displaying a P plate, surely that would indicate that you are a new driver and perhaps they need to stay back or give you a little clearance, patience etc? its in their interests after all.

I don't get the mentality of not wanting to display P plates or those putting you off displaying them.

I'm about to sit my test in NI shortly and if i'm honest, I don't really want to display R plates for a year, i think its too long and perhaps a 3 month period after the test would be more suitable, the only reason I don't want to have to use them is because i'm 36 and just learnt to drive so don't want to have a big reminder on the car for a full year, however I am glad that others will realise that I may make mistakes and will give me space in case I do.
