Do you think this is as a direct result of Google Streetview?
No.
Streetview may have contributed to one or two cases of burglary, but I very much doubt if it's much of a impact on the figures.
My reasoning was that if I had something that was particularly rare or expensive, I may not want it "advertised" for all to see on Google. and the OP may feel the same way.0 -
I love streetview. I don't see it as a security risk though as mostly the images are so old you've probably got a different car / new fence / changed your blinds etc.
But I suppose you're keeping someone in Google customer complaints in a job0 -
Streetveiw is out of date anyway, so no criminal, is going to use it to scope a place that may have changed completely from the time the pics were taken.
Also photographing is legal in public so if Google wanted to tell people to !!!! off and not remove images, they could. If at first you don't succeed, maybe bomb disposal isn't the best career choice.0 -
By having photos removed aren't you advertising that you have something you want to hide. Could be counter productive?0

LOL most of the streetview images are pushing 18 months old now so I don't see how its a security risk what so ever. Trying to link it to burglary figures are ludicrous. Not to mention like others have said having your image removed is more likely to make peoples minds wonder whats there than just seeing a house!!
Talk about being paranoid, if your that concerned then I would suggest you stay home with the shotgun loaded!! lolEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
If you have something "rare" or "expensive", then regardless of whether its on streetview or not wouldn't you put it away somewhere instead of advertising it on your street?Per Mare Per Terram0

Do you have a link to the image in question? One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

OP your MP doesn't happen to be Patrick McLoughlin by any chance?0

I don't see anything wrong with people wanting to get their houses removed from streetview.
Google didn't ask if the images could be used, nor do they pay any royalties or other fees, and if people aren't happy with their property being shown, what harm does it do to anyone else if they get the pics removed?0 -

Nor did google need to ask for the images to be used or pay royalties as all images were taken from a public road, where anyone and everyone has access to!!
What makes you think they would even need to pay royalties in the first place, even if they were selling the images they wouldn't need to but they aren't selling the images and still don't need to.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0
