mobileshop are probably about to got bankrupt seems that alot of peoples cashback is taking time to be processed.

I was pleasantly surprised today with mobileshop.com. Not only was my last cashback paid into my bank yesterday (within the 60 days), they have paid into my quidco account for my new contract. I had read reports about their quidco payments taking months to process.
  • lol@cashback deals will never die

well, i have to disagree totally with that. i started cashback over 3 years ago (twice with dialaphone, and once with e2save) i never ever had a problem with a single claim and got all my money on time.

this year im on the ntl virgin 300 text + 300 minute offer (£10)......the reason being...the signs are there for you all to see, this is a dying trade and industry, so many problems with almost EVERY claim now and shops closing daily.

there is over a 6 months waiting list to obtain a v.a.t number now in this country becuase of this and carousel fraud......which means no new shops will be opening!!

all the signs are there, cashback will die and even if it doesnt, its just problem after problem, so why bother?? are u really getting a £35 per month contract for £1.99? ....with all the special delivery, constant phone calls, stress of customer services, watching times an dates, losing ur temper and arguing?? (cus we all know it will happen when they dont pay your claim!!) its not worth it!!

plus networks are recieving such bad press over this, they will stop them too.
stay away from cashback, and just haggle urself a good deal direct with retailer or network.

there not worth the hassle, and thats coming from a guy whose never had a problem with any claim!!!

    be wise to this!!

I think you are right. The commissions are being cut to dealers in preference to direct deals. The operators kow they still need the indirect channles but lets face it they do not need dealers that bring customers taht churn with almost 100% certainty after a year. I have been doing the cashback deals for nearly 5 years now and I think that the end is nigh. For a start most of te decent deals in recent times have been with refurbished phones only...

I hope that they do not go before 1 year from now! After that I don't care what happens after my contracts are all ended!

I have taken out a new cashback scheme with Mobileshop yesterday. Should I be worried?

Rash.m2k: how do you know they are about to go bankrupt?

I'm a Dialaphone customer who has had a total of 6 cashback deals through them. 2 with Motorola C975s on the 3 network ended up costing me £2.99 each!

Through this site I learned about the You at Work site, gaining me an extra £45 per deal with dialaphone. I shall be using that again this year. This means that the £35 a month T Mobile deals I got are now actually costing me £10 per month each. Thats for 500 mins anytime x net minuites and 100 texts.

Yes, some companies were offering free 12 month deals via cashback, but not Dialaphone. But Dialaphone were not hilighted as causing problems with cashback claims either.

Dialaphone have not offered deals that are as competitive as others but they're still in business and always process cahsbacks on time. The last one in November was processed 24 hours after I sent off the claim, so they must have taken the envelope straight from the postman, opened it and processed it!

I'm not saying that they are but it just seems that they are taking their time.

Don't take my word for it but thats just my perception of it.

It seems they have got their act together and peoples cashbacks are being processed properly.

Funnily enough I was about to post a similar thread to this one...

It is something that's happened over the last couple of days....last week I was looking at 12 month contracts for Samsung D600s and they were coming in at the £5-7.50/month effective mark - as of today they're more like £15-20. Irony is the only reason I held back was that I've heard tales of people struggling with chequebacks on contracts taken at the end of the month as the business of which bill to send back gets more complex.

Was going to ask if anyone had actively monitored the sites and hence could spot a trend - with my current PACs I think I've got until about mid-month so will see how things go.

Although there may be a wider trend, I do believe there's a glitch going on here - would guess that there's an incentive scheme (Virgin were beating everyone else hands down) that came to an end on 31/12. Question is, will the deals get any better as the month goes on??
I really must stop loafing and get back to work...
