Years ago, when I tumble dried a dress which clearly should not have gone near a drier and achieved a similar result, Mum came to the rescue by simply washing it on a gentle cycle with no spin then putting it on a hanger and leaving it to drip dry. It ended up (almost) as long as it had started out and I was quite happy to wear it again.

Might be worth a try if you have somewhere to hang it. Best of luck.

Hand washing & drip drying should lengthen it. You may need to do it a couple of times.

If not, it's a lovely dress, wear it with trousers. It'll look great.

I would suggest washing it in warm water (to relax the fibres) then hanging on the line (or over the bath) absolutely sopping wet! as it dries the wieght of the water should pull the bottom of the dress down. you may have to do this a couple of times - but it SHOULD eventually become wearable again!

Okay, so dress has been marinading in warm water (with a squeeze of hair conditioner) in the bath for a couple of hours. I'm going to lift it out and hang it up and then cross absolutely everything!

Only trouble is it may be a little out of shape.

Dress looks okay - bottom inch still very wet so can't really try it on yet. Held it up and it looks to have grown a bit - maybe a couple of inches? Or that might be wishful thinking. No unevenness that I can see. Will report back later.
