Phew.. jimmy_g I was starting to think i was the only person who could wash & stretch jumpers.

Iv never had one shrink (Yet) iv even tried on occasion when iv lost a little weight to no avail!
  • hope someone can help,
i brought a woollen/angora jumper from miss selfridge about 10 days ago and the care instructions state that it can be machine washed on a 40 degree cycle - i did this for the first time on sunday night and it's now shrunk so much that i can barely get arms in and it to uncomfortable to wear...
if i take it back do you think i might get refund or will they say it's my fault?
  • if you have a dog then at least it'll look fashionable this winter?:p

I would definitely take it back.

You followed the instructions given so it`s not your fault at all, no doubt they will have had others returned too.

    Good luck

If nothing else works, cut it (when felted, wool does not unravel) and turn into a bag or other nice bits of felted crafts.

Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
  • Superstylin - thanks for the tip but don't have a dog, but i have cats and a rabbit??? lol

Gonna go into the shop on Friday and have a good try at getting a refund, hubby said he'll be having words if i don't get the right answer and he usually always get what he wants so fingers crossed
  • I think you might have to shrink it a bit further for the rabbit, but how sweet would that look!

My cat used to have an angora sweater that got shrunk by mistake. Once he had it on that was it! He wouldn't let you have it back! I swear, he wandered around in it for about two days once. Then one day he got outside while it was on, and he came back without it :( But at least none of the neighbours tried to call the RSPCA or anything. Last year he had a santa hat and the daft muppet got outside with that on too :rotfl:
  • well - good news i got a refund today so looks like the cats/rabbit won't be getting a hand me down :)

silvercharming - your cat sounds hilarious, bet the neighbours find him amusing. i love the little santa outfits u can get for cats but i think mine would go mental if i tried to dress them up :(

He is very funny, bless him, and is very sweet tempered. You can do just about anything to him and he won't mind, just as long as he feels loved! He's quite a 'snuggly' cat anyway and frequently emerges from our bedroom with a blanket still draped over his back half :rotfl: He was on our Christmas card last year in his santa hat on a bed of fake snow, he looked adorable, but my neighbour still laughs at the thought of him in it every time she sees him!
Anyway, I'm glad you got your money back!
