Decided today to make an apple pie for tomorrow as I have a pre bought sweet pastry case, a tin of apples and sauce (for pies) .... just looking for topping ideas please.... I've had a search n can't find any recipes :-(
I'm going to add some cinnamon to the apples from the tin, a few chunks of 'real' apples and maybe a handful of raisins.
All ideas greatly appreciated :-)Living Simply, not simply living.Weight Loss - 5b/55lb

Hi there Lola. I'd be tempted to do a crumble-style topping for it. Mix equal amounts of butter, sugar and flour into a crumbly mixture and spoon over the top. The other alternative I can think of is to cube up some bread into chunks and sprinkle that over the top. That'll be a bit different from a normal pie. Shortcrust pastry isn't that difficult to make, but when there's a lot of other stuff to be done (i.e. Christmas Day) then the easiest ways are often the best.
Hope one of those ideas helps.
Merry Christmas

Oh think I'll go with the crumble on top, and maybe add the cinnamon to that instead...
