High CPU Usage

Morning, hoping for a little techie help please. I have a message keep flashing up warning me of high (100%) CPU usage by Interner Explorer. My desktop has been very slow of late and it is driving me mad. I don't know if this is connected to a virus or something else but I regularly housekeep with the likes of Norton, Spybot, Malwarebytes and Superantispyware. I have read various advice whilst having a trawl around the web, most seem to suggest downloading various programmes but I'm not sure if these are a bit of a scam and will ultimately try to charge me. Any help much appreciated. Thank you, Sal

The obvious question (although not the solution) is why are you using internet explorer? There are far better, more secure and stable browsers like google chrome, mozilla firefox, opera etc.
If you weren't using IE then you wouldn't have high CPU usage for it

Well, you've got me there! I don't know is the answer, although I guess it's because I've always used it and saw no reason to change, never been a problem before etc. However, I did notice the other day that another high CPU message flashed up, but this time it didn't say that it was high CPU usage by IE, it was high CPU usage by something else that I am struggling to remember.... doh...0

Hi Sorry to jump on the boat, I've been getting the same message too! I didn't think I used internet explorer but I'm not too sure. My home page is Google?
I also had a second message flash up about high usage and that said Rapport?
I can get into task manager and thought about deleting them both but it flashes up an error message!MBNA [STRIKE]£2,029[/STRIKE] £1,145 Virgin [STRIKE]£8,712[/STRIKE] £7,957 Sainsbury [STRIKE]£6,870[/STRIKE] £5,575 M&S [STRIKE]£10,016[/STRIKE] £9,690 Barclaycard [STRIKE]£11,951[/STRIKE] £11,628 CTC [STRIKE]£7,629[/STRIKE] £6,789 Mortgage £[STRIKE]182,828[/STRIKE] £171,670

When did the slowness start? Suddenly, or gradually?
Post a log if you like:

Save to the desktop, do system scan and save log, don't Fix anything yet, copy/paste to here.
Edit: Julie, do the same if you like in a new thread, along with a Malwarebytes QUICK scan and post the log of that too (http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam-download.php).0 -
I will do but can't get onto the first link. Cheer Russ, the log has just completed. However, I am getting a Forum message saying that as I'm a new user I am not allowed to post with links. Is there another way to get this to you please?

http://pastebin.com
Then just write the letters for the link after the .com if that makes sense, e.g.
for http://pastebin.com/Gn4WpMqu
then just give me the /Gn4WpMqu bit0 -

Try this link:

Right click, save target as (to desktop).0 -
Check in Task Manager - Processes to see the name of the process that is consuming most of the CPU. Do a Google search on that process name to find out what application it relates to.
I had a similar issue and found that a process was taken up over 1Gb of memory and most of the CPU resource. I then discovered the process was related to Spybot. I had recently installed the latest version of Spybot.
I removed Spybot from my PC and reported back to the makers of my issue. They said they were aware of the issue and working on a fix.
So don't know if it is a general issue with the latest version of Spybot that may be affecting other users too.
As I say, check the process and see if it is related to Spybot. If so, then I would recommend removing it until they have sorted a fix.
Cheers,

Thanks for that link Russ, what a useful tool. OK, the letters after .com/ are UNidHPNP
