I'm being charged text messages that i havent subscribed to!

I have recently taken on a new contract with 3. I have started to recieve text messages saying i am being charged £4.60 for subscribing to a service that i know i havent subscribed to.

The phone number i am being contacted by is 08000988510 and they are charging me £4.60 for each text. Ive had 3 up to now. Each has been charged to my account.

Can anyone help me sort this out. I am on the phone to three now but they are not being very helpful.

I think you may have posted in the wrong forum, the mobile, or the consumer rights forum may be best to get advice.
Good luck, hope you sort it out. :)

  • p.s. try googling the phone number, I just have and it comes up with some interesting results. Looking at the search results I would presume you have an android phone?.

Yes, ive just had a phone call from a representative of the above weather service alert. My number was passed on to them by 3. They have assured me that the subscription has now been cancelled and they are refunding the costs of the texts via paypal. I'm off now to check that they have actually refunded me.

i'd appreciate help too pls! am with tmobile and have just had 3 texts from 60199, 2 telling me how to use my phone and 1 saying i am subscribed to 'my tech alerts' and will cost me £4.50 a week. tells me to text 'stop' to stop this.the helpline is the same as above tho - 0800 098 8510
i downloaded an app at the same time as a sent text has appeared on my account. though, of course, i absolutely did not send a text to that number at that time.
now then ,who or what is best to go to first? should i text stop or what?

Text stop. Phone the number above ask how you have subscribed to this service, now i must admit my 3 provider contacted the number on my behalf and they rang me back as no doubt it would have cost me a fortune as it was an American based company.

When you contact them, tell them you dont want the service and ask for a refund. That seems to have worked for me (fingers crossed).

The woman who i spoke to reconned i had done exactly the right thing texting stop (costs 10p).

thx - i did text stop. wasn't sure whether that was a scam in itself and i'd be subscribing myself to even more spam etc.
have rung them but they don't answer so will leave a message etc. thx for help.

edit - judi - did you have to leave a message first, to get them to ring you back, please?
