    Yes, as above.

Ideally I'd like it to work like the stereo in my wife's mini which turns on and off with the car's ignition but you can manually override it when the ignition isn't on.

If for example you are filling up at a petrol station and the rest of the family want to carry on listening to the stereo. Can anyone confirm you can do this with the Sony when it is wired 'normally'?
  • on my car, with the iso adaptor fitted (plug & play), the unit switces on and off via ignition. Cannot switch it on without having key in vehicle..

It depends there is usualy 1 black (-) one red (+) and one blue wire on many cars the blue has to be conected to cars ignination etc so stereo gets a signal and it shuts off which is neat as you dont have to worry swiching it off, and it also allows you to turn it on without key.

Most people connect the blue wire to (+) so the stereo doesnt shut off when you remove key etc etc, So many wires and colours it gets confusing

Understand all that BUT there are obviously some stereos which are cleverer and can still turn on and off via the ignition but (somehow) can be overridden.

Maybe they can reroute the permanent (memory) power connection internally to provide the override facility?

Damn, these arnt on the website anymore, and i tried reserving by text and the product code wasnt recognised.....
Will these still be available in store, im pretty sure that my local one had a few of them in stock a few days ago.

  • I got this (upgraded Model) from a Friend in Leeds, via Argos, can anybody advise will this work in a Peugeot 307HDI (2002 Model), or do i need any wire Harness or anything else to get it going?.

I probaly won't have steering wheel control, is there any way around this, if going to be expensive, will control from CD/Radio?

    Would appreciate a reply.

tbh i keep standard radio in a 307 as your car works on a multiplexing system, basically your indicator stalked link up to the radio, as it like a mini ecu contorlling or the electrics for tthe lights etc. You prob could fit an after market stero as the iso connectors are the same, but you may have eletrical probs afterwards. I only know this as i work at Peugeot so know most of the symptons. So my answer is it durable but wouldnt recomend it myself.

This Sony works fine in my 2003 307. Just had to swap two wires - see my earlier post.

There is a solution that allows stalk and display to work, see earlier in the thread. Think its about 60 quid.

Well I tried the code in my local store that had stock last time I checked and it didn't like the code on the checker thingies so looks like the answer is no.

Typical - I knew I should have got this whilst I had the chance but our car was off the road so I had no transport.

I just bought a new stereo - a Sony one in the clearance section reduced to £46.99

    http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=10001&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&searchTerms=5004269

I got the box home and realised I haven't got the one I ordered, instead I have got one practically identical to this more expensive version costing £99.99 (was £129.99)

    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5004317.htm

The catalogue number of the one I ordered is stuck all over the box so I don't know if this is an alternative they've offered. I'm pretty chuffed though as this one has MP3 disc playback on it.

Im a bit confused... I managed to call my local store before it closed and although the second one (5004317) wasnt available, they had the first one (5004269) in stock so I've reserved it.

Will I be getting the better model or not?

    Sorry
