I also remember my parents telling me the bus wasn't the local park, being taught to give up my seat for anyone that needed it more than me & being told by my father that if he wanted to hear my music in lounge over his cricket, he'd have let me play it there while he was watching it. He wasn't an adolescent, he was a grown man who looked well into his twenties. There's no way he couldn't have been aware of how loud it was, because people several seats down the carriage could have sung along with it if they'd so chosen (no-one did). Perhaps I come from a time (not so long ago, I might add) when consideration for others meant something & didn't make you the local nerd.
Here here! I am not so old that I can also remember being young and taught to be polite and considerate. I never ever put my feet on seats on any form of transport, nor did I inflict my choice of music on others (except once when my parents arranged for their friends who were in a band to play at my 10th Birthday party - then my friends had to suffer). It is irritating when using public transport these days to be assaulted with loud tinny music and even worse the stink of cannabis and all this from folks who should know better. Still, I had better go back to being a boring old fart but at least I know that I am not inconsiderate whilst doing so.:rotfl:0 -
And you certainly are...........a racist.
How old are you? 11?
Why come on a thread just to call the poster names????RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

Stating a fact I would call it. Have you actually read sapphire's posts???:rolleyes:0 -

How on earth is making an observation racist?
My experience whilst living away at University was that students of African or Asian/Indian decent were the most disruptive with regards to noise and music. Does this make me racist too?

sapphire was complaining about his/her neighbour's baby crying. He/she felt it necessary to mention that it was a mixed race couple/baby. There was no relevance in mentioning the races of the neighbours. So yes, I would say that making an unecessary observation about their race is racist - or else why even notice/mention it?
My experience at Uni was that I was pretty damn noisy along with a lot of my fellow students - that's what students are like. Can't say I took note of which race was the noisiest as I'm not especially bothered what race people are so I wouldn't be making a study of which race was the noisiest. So yes, I'd say you might well have a few issues as you are making judgements based on race rather than just on people. Don't generalise; there are @rseholes of all races.0 -

Of course there's relevance in race, though this may not fit in with the cosy insulated view some people have of the world (that's not targeted at you BTW). Aside from skin pigmentation, cultural attitudes also vary. It's human nature to perceive other races as 'different', and there's nothing sinister about this unless that perception borders on hatred.
The only person who appears to be judgemental is you.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

You were the one generalising about race. My opinion is that you may need to examine your 'cultural attitude'. It depends what you mean by 'different' I guess; different as in interesting or different as in 'ooh I'm scared'.
You were defending sapphire, in my opinion his/her observations were racist and indefensible.

sassers was saying that sapphire was racist, you were saying how was making an observation racist. sapphire's 'observation' was unecessary and racist, ergo you certainly appeared to be defending sapphire. Or did I read it wrong :rolleyes:0 -

I don't particularly care for saphire's "cultural attitude", but to insinuate that any individual is racist (a serious accusation) on the basis of an observation is plain wrong.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. As you suggested, I have reported this thread, it is getting rather out of hand. I'm not insinuating that I think sapphire is racist, I'm saying it. I think sapphire is racist. End of. Hopefully the thread will be deleted or edited.0
