Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday, 19th July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning everyone.
Very grey and windy here and rain is forecast L
Need to stir myself to get ready for work. Just three more days until the end of termJ

Dinner today will be chicken stuffed with mozzarella and wrapped in pancetta for 5 adults and chicken coated in parmesan and breadcrumbs for the 3 DGSs as they prefer this. We will all have hg potatoes & hg salad (leaves, tomatoes, peppers, onion & cucumber).

Congratulations to all those with good end of year reports. The DGSs all came home with excellent reports on their behaviour and progress. We spent several happy minutes reading the three reports, reading out various comments and praising the three lads. Needless to say DD & DSIL were very proud parents. They work so hard for the boys – managing and coaching 3 football teams, organising 3 lots of training, three lots of league matches and at the moment 3 lots of tournaments. Mind you, it keeps all 5 of them out of troubleJ They haven’t the time or energy for much else except work!!

Happy Tuesday folks. Hugs to those who need or want them.
Cheers m’dears, Silver x

Good Morning Silvermaid and all who follow .The sun is out at the moment hwere in north Kent and hopefully it will be a dry day. After the school run I'm off to see my niece who is staying in Faversham for a few days Then back to pick the tribe up from school. One of them, Henry has his school trip to Broadstairs today. Jack's trip is tomorrow.Hope it stays fine for them on the beach. The time is just whizzing by at the moment only 26 more days till our holiday. So much to do now I start collecting some boxes to put the tinned stuff in and loo rols washing powder ect.Its quite a task getting two carloads of grown-ups,children plus some of the food and two dogs transported down to the Isle of Wight but we always seem to manage it every year.We also take Bens fishing gear, guitar and stuff for the smaller childrenI think sometimes we would be better off with a lorry than two seven seaters but it all falls into place eventually.
Right I'm off for some caffeine to kick start my day
have a good one everyone what ever you are doing

Good Morning to Silvermaid and Jackie O and all who follow x

Well I do know that all good things come to an end and yesterday I ended up back in bed with one of my turns. However I had 5 good days and it makes me positive for the future that with the right surgery, things could be much improved (fingers crossed).

Anyway I feel brighter now and have a busy day. I have an appointment at 10am and then we have to make DD birthday cake.

Hugs especially to Bitsy and NPM x

I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.

Off to work here soon, I was about to leave yesterday when one of the kitchen staff came to see me, they were having problems with the new posters they wanted printed, their area manager had come in to sort out the problem, she'd phoned to ask want time I left work & when told 3:30, arrived at 3:20 & then expected me to stay late to help her out. I'm usually very helpful, but her attitude really peed me of so I would only stay 15 minutes, then I turned off my PC & locked my door. I sent a CMA email to my line manager & I'll face the music this morning, lol.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Good Morning All

Hester - hope it isn't too bad for you this morning!

Molly - glad you are feeling better.

Sun is shining here too at the moment, hopefully it will stay a while.

Am mainly in the office today, dropping DD and her BF off in town later to watch Harry Potter again. 45 mins each way so will take a big chunk out of my day and I will have to pick them up again later. Unfortunately there are no buses from where we live, just one at 8am in the morning. Also our new driver is spending double to get to work on public transport than he will when he gets his car - madness!

Had roast chicken last night so will be using the leftovers to make curry or chicken quesidillas (sp) tonight. Then will be chicken soup tomorrow.

Will spend the next hour doing some housework before I lock myself away in my office.

Hope you all have a good day & (((hugs))) wherever needed.x

Hester - hope that music is singing your song! Sounds ridiculous that she expected you to stay late - everyone knows that at the end of the school year tension is running high and everyone is looking forward to the break.

Today has dawned bright and sunny but I'm not chancing the weather today as the forecast for the NE is NOT good. Am having a day out with a friend today - we're off to Ikea as I need some storage ideas - I'm just looking, not buying promise!! Might see if I can tempt her into Costco for a quick look. Did what I'd planned to do yesterday - cleaning and clearing wise, so am happy with that. Dinner last night was roast pork (left over from Sunday). Tonight will be something from the freezer - maybe an easy meal like pizza with salad from the garden. Had potatoes last night from the garden, so might make a potato salad :) Tomorrow I'm back clearing and cleaning again!!
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

It's the same for us Essex Girl - minimal public transport and so expensive. DD spent hours on the bus going to college and now they are cutting the service even more. I guess its a sign of the times x

    Morning all,

emsf You are right about the end of year tension running high, it is exactly the same at our school. Roll on friday!

Hester hope it all gets sorted out.

NPM Hope you are feeling a bit brighter today.

Molly Glad that you are feeling more positive.

Hopefully a quiet day for me at work today, although you never can tell with teenagers, then this evening I am going to start my holiday packing, hopefully that should put me in the holiday mood.

Went to a lovely concert at DD2's junior school yesterday, they do musical events so well, I will miss them next year when she has moved to seniors.

Tea tonight is yet more chilli, it still hasn't gone!

Hugs to those that need them.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

    Morning everyone

Bright and sunny here this morning, no rain forecast until much later today so have took a chance and put a small load of washing on the line, DS1 will get it in when he gets home from school - hopefully before it rains!

Dinner last night was chicken pie, new pots and veg for the menfolk, I had fish, new pots and veg. Still not feeling 100% thinking I may have a kidney infection, will see how I go today and think I'll be making a Drs appointment before the end of the week.

DH has a meeting tonight so just need to feed boys and myself, DS1 has Cadets too. Will be glad when end of the week is here and we can all relax from the normal pressure of getting up, kids to school etc, just hoping the weather can be half decent!!

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    Morning all

It's lovely here. Have been out with the big dog, have got him until tomorrow as my friend is working tonight, he really is lovely but having him makes me realise that I can't have a dog at the moment due to my working hours.

    MOLLY chin up hun

Hope everyone is ok, hugs to anyone who isn't.

Am fighting a battle with the slug population at the moment as they are quite happily munching through my veg! Have tried egg shells and organic slug pellets, think I might get some cheap beer today.

Plans today is gym first thing, then will come back and clean, there's dog hair everywhere! Tea tonight is steak for DS, not sure what I'll have yet. LO cauliflower cheese for lunch. Made loads of bread yesterday and bread rolls so might just have beans on toast or something like that.

    Have a good day all
