The atom will be fine for 7 years for my needs.
It won't be once you actually start using it in anger. Video streaming isn't too clever.0 -
It can play HD youtube, I have read reviews. I agree with the 'netbook in a desktop case' although that doesn't mean its not good enough.
If I use PC Specialist, I can also add 4gb Ram plus an SSD instead of an HDD. Around £300 though.

Bit of consistency in your argument, eh.
You have thousands of posts here, but you still come across as a noobie.
oh dearie me,you really have spat the dummy out

you argument is replace everything with newer low power units
however your new 'PC' isnt cutting edge now

thats now
got everything planned for the next 7 years?0 -
I got a 300mhz thin client box using 10 watts + monitor but it's sloooo...w .
I don't see bluray or dvd on that "box" you linked to.
My pc tower uses 75W , budget wolfdale cpu , minimum. I have old and new laptops that use under 25W
You have to work out if any energy savings justify the initial layout. One good point is that low interest rates make investing in energy savings more attractive.
Edit - my little thin client cost 5 quid- added a £10 lappy h/d plus connectors, some mem. ~ under £30. Silent .0 -
