    Agreed,

Decades ago, the inexorable rise of water bills whist the underground leaks were left unattended to meant the water companies never dealt with the root cause. Then the the regulators stopped the leakage.

Today car [ and other ] insurance is about 150% unnecessarily high because of scams / false claims / and chavs who have neither insurance nor road tax. My car insurance should be 99% discounted after owning and driving a car for 50 years without either an accident or a claim, until car insurance companies are regulated and made to invest in sorting the root cause it will continue to rise each year.

That dateline also applies to my home ownership buildings and contents insurance. It is the case that these things are my responsibility, I take them very seriously, and yet I'm penalised because others lodge false claims or are just not diligent. If companies shifted the emphasis to reward those who have never claimed they would tackle the root cause and begin the long road leading to a change the behaviour in society.

Right this is nowt to do with Leccy Bills .. .. so I'm doing a Ross Kemp [ lets get out of here - before it kicks off ] :D

What do you have to do to get through to these people at Scottish Power customer services?

I said i am now homeless with no address, they responded by saying thanks for your email, this will make no difference in the amount owed and a debt collection agency will be informed to collect it - could they not just hold payments until i can afford to pay???

And their rep on this forum is useless too, she doesn't even respond to emails even when shes asked you to email her LOL

I give up, i told Scottish Power i have had enough of their customer services and to do what they must, good luck to them with the debt collections too i think i got more important things to pay for.

All in all, the Scottish Power experience is like a nightmare, one big, messed up, confusing, rude and arrogant nightmare.

    Hello again,Widelates.

I remember your other thread, in which you posted about the problems you had with British Gas earlier this year. Which were the same problems as I had.

I have also had Scottish Power, when I first moved into my current address. As they were supplying my gas but not my electric. The electric was supplied by British Gas,but Scottish Power were supplying the gas. But Scottish Power were charging me twice as much money for my gas as what British Gas are charging and would have charged me.

But this was not because of a mistake or anything like that. As Scottish Power took readings from me every 2 weeks and they went by my readings. But Scottish Powers prices are more expensive than British Gas,and some other companies.

But as you know, when you first move into a new place, you have to be with whoever is supplying the property.Until your transfer to the new energy suppler is finalised. Which can take several months.

So I had to be with Scottish Power when I first moved in,which I did not like. And wait for my transfer to British Gas,who I wanted as I had them at my last address. So I had to put up with the not so good service of Scottish Power and pay their high prices. While I waited for my transfer over to British Gas.

But during this time I was still in contact with British gas as they were supplying the electric. And in order to compare prices with what Scottish Power were charging me. I gave my Gas metre readings to British Gas and I found out that. British Gas are a lot cheaper than Scottish Power. And had I had been with them for my gas, they would not have charged me anything near the amount that Scottish power were charging me.

And then after 3 long months of waiting,I was finally with British Gas. And sure enough my gas and electric bills are a lot cheaper than what they would have been if I had stayed with Scottish Power.

Widelats,I understand why you left British Gas because of what they did to you. And they did it to me to. But I think you have just moved from one energy supplier that made one or two mistakes. And ended up with a much worse energy supplier-Scottish Power.

I know other people who are with Scottish Power. And they are all paying twice as much for their bills as what they would be paying, with another energy supplier. So Scottish Power is not the energy suppler to go to.

You also say you are now homeless. Have you been to the council and are they helping you? That is if you are homeless the council will find you accommodation. Are they doing that? Barbara.
