What do you have to do to get through to these people at Scottish Power customer services?

I said i am now homeless with no address, they responded by saying thanks for your email, this will make no difference in the amount owed and a debt collection agency will be informed to collect it - could they not just hold payments until i can afford to pay???

And their rep on this forum is useless too, she doesn't even respond to emails even when shes asked you to email her LOL

I give up, i told Scottish Power i have had enough of their customer services and to do what they must, good luck to them with the debt collections too i think i got more important things to pay for.

All in all, the Scottish Power experience is like a nightmare, one big, messed up, confusing, rude and arrogant nightmare.

And when will that be? I'm sure we would all like to say "sorry cant pay this month I'll pay you in december". I know this sounds harsh but everyone that owes money causes the prices for those who pay on time to be higher to cover bad debt.

We are lucky that we are the only country in europe (excluding NI) that (a) allows ppm and (b) does not cut you off immediately when you fail to pay monthly bill on time.

OP - as you are currently homeless, how are they going to pursue you for this debt?
Your top priority must surely be finding a new home.

I did not miss the point. Unless you are physically living on the streets and doing all you posting from a library then you are living somewhere be that only 'sofa squatting'.

My understanding is that they can get it deducted from benefit payments albeit at a very low rate per week.

If you can’t afford to pay your bill

If you get a bill that you can’t afford, contact the energy company straight away so it doesn't cut off your supply. Once you contact your energy company, it must offer you help such as:
    • putting you on a payment plan based on how much you can afford
    • arranging for you to pay what you owe through Fuel Direct – a scheme where payments are taken from certain benefits, eg Income Support
    • installing a pre-pay meter
    • giving you information on how to reduce your bills, eg by turning your thermostat down
    from http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Governmentcitizensandrights/Consumerrights/Energy-yourconsumerrights/DG_196252

So what I would suggest is working out a sensible debt repayment amount and discussing this with SP.

You don't say anything about how much you owe or what other debts you may have, all of which factor into this.

Can you get benefits when you have no fixed abode? Genuine question, btw, really don't know.
  • When you next use your name / National Insurance Number with your new job / home with the Sally-Bash in Liverpool they, or the Collection Company they sell your debt to, will catch up with you my friend.

    - don't be too angry with SP, I'm with SP and at the moment I'm paying for the electricity you used

    - until you ' make an arrangement ' and keep to it they will chase you, and when it goes to a collector, they will chase harder

    - and once with a collection agency it will go up by about £40 per week, £40 per week, £40 per week, £40 per week :)
