  • Good morning to everyone.

This week I have had another really busy week at work and haven't been home that much at all so haven't spent to much grocery money. Have spent £8.49 so far this week, which is still a little under my budget so am pleased. Luckily I have a very large freezer and have been eating pre cooked HM meals for most of the week. Am really enjoying this challenge as I waste far too much money usually.

Hope you all have a good day.

Hi, havent had much time to post, but havent spent too much money. Dont have the receipts to hand, but last weekend I spent £19ish in Asda and £30ish in Savacentre, but £4.50 of that was Olay face wipes which were BOGOF. I havent set myself a target yet as I've failed in the past. This week I'm going to try to have a use up week, as both freezers need defrosted, they didnt get done before christmas. So this weekend, all I'm going to buy is fruit/veg milk and bread, so shouldnt spend much, maybe about £10. Cupboards are still fairly full, but cant find a store cupboard challenge thread. Will go and have another look.
Good luck to everyone taking part.

  • Not had as much time as I would have liked to concentrate on this challenge this week. My total food shopping for the second week came to £22.94 which is still excellent and well within the overall January budget. However, I haven't done a meal plan yet for this week so must get that done tonight when I get back in.

On a separate note, we did hear over the weekend that a new Lidl might be being built approximately half a mile away from us. I hope it does happen, I can see me being a regular there as it would be our nearest supermarket.

Anyway must dash off to work now, will have to catch up later.

Been having a rethink over my grocery budgets.

Going from payday to payday seems to mean if I go over budget then I start ignoring how much I spend between then and payday.

So going to re-set my budget times and re-work out my figures to be the entire month with no weeks to ignore!! ;)

Means I'll be on target still and next month should be easier ;)

Just have to make sure I keep to it then!

  • I need to rethink my budget also. This is my first month and I have more than halved what I used to spend. This I think has been too drastic and typical of me lol I always want to run before I can walk. I am going to increase my allowance for food to £45 per week and overall spend to £75 per week. I willrun with this for this month and reduce by a fiver per week each month until I get down to £60 per week as I should be able to live on this easily. Still a massive reduction for me. I have been getting really annoyed at myself because I haven't managed to stick to this but I need to take a chill pill and do this by baby steps. Signature will now be changed accordingly. I am not counting this as failing just me being adaptable in todays culture ;)
5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60

    Mortgage £28,214.65/ £26,254.71/ £25,746.43
    By end 2020 I want CC at £ 19,000.00.
By end 2021 I want CC at £10,000.00

Ok Everyone week two of shopping and it's another large total even with mealplanning £101.74

I think I now have enough in cupboards and freezer to finish the month but will have to shop for top-up bits like milk & bread later though. So not to bad.

    Budget £300
    Week 1 £124.03
    Week 2 £101.74

    Left for month £74.23 :D

Hi everyone, it's not going too badly so far this month. Today I spent a total of £67 in HB, Aldi and Asda, so that leaves me with £60 and next week is the last week for me (I get paid on 24th).
