January 2007 Grocery Challenge

  • My first ever grocery challenge is going really well - I spent 52.51 last weekend in Tesco on a mammoth shop. I managed to make and freeze lots of things after that - lamb casserole, beef curry, lentil stew, leek and potato soup, bolognese sauce and a lasagne. Most of this is still in the freezer, so I'm going to only do a 'top up' shop today.

I just want to commit to writing what I am going to buy today, so I know that if I buy anything extra I will have you guys to answer to!!!

    List as follows:
    cat food
    kitchen roll
polenta (if I can find it)
    fruit for the week
    milk
    pop (4x2litres)
    cereal
    crackers
rosemary (mam bought me a frozen leg of lamb and am hoping to cook it properly)
    bleach
washing up liquid (used nearly all mine cleaning patio, but still cheaper than Jeyes Fluid)
    potatoes
    tinned tomatoes
    ham
    toilet roll
    bread/rolls

Will update when I get back from Tescos

    Can I join please?

I spent a massive £351 in the last week!!! Admittedly there were several non-food items. I am setting my target this month as £300. Shopping day will be Tuesday and I am going to walk to the store with a list rather than online shop this week.

Not doing too badly with my budget but just realised it's only the 7th!
Have decided hubby and I are going to try and be healthier so am going to Mr. T/Lidl today and buy things we need. So even though I already have enough for meals from the freezer, I need to buy lunch bits as hubby has decided to start taking packed lunches, hooray!!!!!:T
No more sweets, choccies, biccies or crisps as I think this is where a lot of my food budget goes and it shouldn't!(also goes on my tummy and hips!)
Am not buying healthy snack bars etc. as they are such a rip off. Am going to work out how to make my own healthy snacks. So am aiming to spend £50ish today, wish me luck!!!:j
Sept. grocery challenge = £500 (221.60 so far!;))

Need to add up the 2 receipts for my only bits of shopping this week/year so I can update my budget. Spent all day at my Mum's yesterday as she was admitted to hospital so didn't spend anything then anyway.
    Will be back later.

I shouldn't need much this week as all planned (is that tempting fate, hope not)
