Reporting in as promised...... We did a big shop at Tesco last week £55.21 and went into town on our free bus passes to get veg which came to £3.87... OH borrowed 50p this morning, we are getting the sun each day this week to qualify for a £9.50 break in the autumn sometime, not sure where yet.

Keeping more or less to the menu list so not doing too bad, will have a top up fruit shop next week sometime, but enough in the kitty for that.

I did get 2 packs of posh sausage reduced in Tesco to 80p each, which gives me enough for 3 dinners. I also bought a slice of leg of pork which I will turn into casserole with beans and maybe with yogurt and rice rather than with spuds, I cook the rice with mixed veg, or sometimes just with frozen peas. That reminds me I have some green beans in the freezer to use up.
    Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.
  • Hi, I'm new here too.

In our mad house, we have 2 adults, 2 children (5 & 2) and 2 rabbits. Unfortunately, our 2 year old costs us an absolute fortune in food as he has multiple food allergies and his food is so much more expensive. He also means we waste alot of food as he has other health problems which have caused a knock on effect of him having "issues" with food. Something that he ate last week won't be tolerated this week, etc

I think we should set our budget at £75 a week, £65 on the main shop and £10 for top ups (bread, milk etc)

i'm late joining this, but i can work out how much i've spent so far!

i decided to have a very cheap month and basically try and eat out of the cupboards and freezer as much as poss, buying fresh stuff to top it up. there's only me, and i've 3 weekends away this month, though do have OH here one weekend (always more expensive!)

i'm gonna budget just £80, should be able to stay well within it! i usually budget £100 have slipped a bit on that lately.

    Hi madhouse,
I know exactly how you feel. My now 2yr old had the whole lactose thing going on which he has now finally grown out of. Its amazing how much these things impact your food bills. We only had milk prodcts to watch out for but that in itself was a challenge, i know a family that has to exclude milk, wheat, soya, citrus and egg!!!
I couldn't do £75 for 4 on the just lactose free so I take my hat off to you.

    Hello,
Well I have come in under budget for last week, presuming a month is £200 therefore £50 per week. Went to Somerfield tonight for some nappies - oooh, Stowells Wine at £2.49 a bottle! Might be a bit ahead for this week now!

I found the Stowells last week! Don't forget that if you buy more than 6 bottles you get an extra 5% off. However, this is probably why I am nearly £40 over budget for last Week!

If anyone can manage to print off the Dr Oteker Pizza 50p coupon from Martin's Tip this week, they are half price in Tesco! So, double bubble! (I can't seem to get the bar code to print).

I have no kitchen (literally NO kitchen- its just an empty square space with bits of wire sticking out of the walls) this month as we are having a new one fitted. This should make me cut down on our food bill since we are mostly eating at our parents houses!!

Not doing so very well this month. Although have managed to work out main meals through into next month's budget but always seem to need to buy milk and bread.

Hoping to survive with just buying milk, bread, and a chicken to roast for the rest of the month but somehow ... I DOUBT IT!!! :o

i have spent 21.02 today. but that inculdes £11 of nappies which should last about a month if not more for my son.so only a tenner on foodie bit's. needed some bits for hubbies lunches and some eggs and milk. still i really pleased with that.

i didn't realise how much i do have in freezers. got enough to keep us going til middle of feb i think. meals might be odd towards end of feb tho. i am planning to use everythign in freezers then give them a really good clean before starting to fill up again. had chest freezer for nearly 3 years and never had it totally empty . ( well except when bought it )
