Regarding the periods, you could try a mooncup - much cleaner than tampons.0

I started taking Cerezette in October 2006. Month one, eight day, heavy period. Month two, nine day, heavy period. Month three, eleven day, heavy period. I had always had heavy periods, but this was getting ridiculous, the bleeding was so bad.
Month four - nothing. Month five, nothing. And so on. Last October, four years after starting to take it, I had a very small amount of breakthrough bleeding for two days. I had forgotten that you could get breakthrough bleeding, so contacted the practice nurse straight away as I was worried. Everything was fine, though, and I haven't bled since.
My daughter, who lives at home, is also on Cerezette. She gets a light period every three or four months.
Apart from the convenience of not having periods, it has saved a fortune on sanitary products!0 -
I take cerazette, have been taking it for a few years and love it. I think it's a 'marmite' pill - you either get on with it or you don't. I think it took about six to eight weeks for the bleeding to settle initially for me, and then nothing since.0

I was on it for 3 years and my periods stopped permanently about a month after I started it. No other side effects either.
If you're not happy then the best thing to do is speak to your doc about other options.

I was on Cerazette and didnt have a period from day 1 when I started to take it.
It was lovely not having one, I could tell when I would normally have had one as I used to occasionally get pmt or slight back ache.
However, the biggest side effect that I had was complete loss of sex drive.
It's a shame that this was the only side effect and that it was a major one - it was so bad that I had to come off it.
It took a few months to get back to normal so now I am not on anything.0 -
Hello OP,
I took Cerazette and bled constantly for 3 months. After that I gave it up and decided to use other methods!
Sorry if that isn't helpful but I agree with the "Marmite" comment above - it either suits you or it doesn't.
Best of luck

My experience was the same as mrsb above. I got quite sick from the constant bleeding and came off it. It also messed up my emotions and DH was very glad the day I stopped taking it.0

I've been on it for about 4 years, with no side effects, no bleeding or issues from day 1 of taking it. Like others have said everyone's different, so you may need to give it a little longer, or try another contraceptive option0

I was on Cerazette for around 18 months and didn't have any bleeding at all. I did however become a bit of a psycho on it!! So just keep an eye on yourself if that makes sense!! I now take a different pill back to back and this works just as well.Weight 21/08/12 - 11st 4lb  Target of 10st....

Hi OP
Ive been on Cerazette for a year now and have had no side effects at all. No periods or breakthrough bleeding (so far) and actually i have lost weight too as being on Marvelon before seemed to increase my appetite so my weight went up. Since being on cerazette ive found its suppressed my appetite to a more normal level
Only good things from meMy doc did say though that it would take up to 6 months for your body to get used to it xx
