Afternoon all,
Wet and cold here to-day, had to put on a sweater, at least its not so cold that OH feels the need to turn on the heating....yet.
Finished the shawl, jacket, booties and hat have been knitting for cousin's coming grandchild....love knitting baby clothes so that's been satisfactory...bought some more wool yesterday to knit another jacket and hat, nice buttery colour which will be suitable for either sex....not sure if they know yet what it is, but prefer not to know so ask people not to tell me!
Had a chat with DD3 in Oz...things going well for them, so glad as it keeps OH from fretting....to listen to him it sounds as if its a hundred years ago when people emigrated and you never saw them again....I am looking forward to a trip to Perth next year if I can afford it.
Happy birthday Noah, hope that you have a wonderful day.
OH went out yesterday and picked a small mountain of rhubarb, made a tart this morning and used the rest with our very small crop of blackcurrants to make some muffins, so feeling virtuous, will freeze some when cooled as would never use them all before they go off.
Debating putting out the washing done this morning, think that I will as am not in a hurry with anything and will need airer to-morrow for bedding which I will change to-day or tomorrow morning.
Hope that everybody has a lovely Sunday, stay safe and well

Afternoon All
Steady day for us today, been browsing the web, "catchers-can" for breaky and lunch, 2 crispbread with Pate for a very late breakfast after being up 5 hoursand lunch cheese melted on top of a couple of crispbreads with a little tomato on top. Can this be LC?? I have managed 6kg off during the trip, think it will be harder, as not natural salad weather we have come back to. Tea tonight I have dug some Aldi Lamb Shanks out of the freeze, which I will have with some frozen veg, and DH will have some HM frozen mash, made from surplus from before we went away to use the potatoes up.
Going to have a real use up before I buy much to try to make some freezer space. No washing yet, as did catch up before I left, still in various stage of unpacking, will tackle it tomorrow. Wearing extra layers at the moment, big change of temperature :eek:
:bdaycake: Noah - hope you are having a good one
Hope the party went OK Bitsy - where was the cake photo?
Take care all - kick the BD out those of you struggling with it. DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club

Feel very lazy when I read what you are all doing today. What busy bees you all are. Here I'm having a rare slob day, although I did start to sort out my bedroom this morning. Trying to sort, wash and iron all my late Dad's things before taking them to the charity shop.
BB: my sympathies. I inherited all an old lady's wool, bin bags full, and it is all under various beds at the moment. I love to knit but if I live to be 100 I'll not get through that lot.
VickA: Love the 'freezer roulette'. Well remember serving apple pie with custard and cream to loads of guests, only it turned out to be chicken and ham pie. Never lived it down and now try harder with the labelling!
Enjoy what's left of the weekend everyone.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Hi everyone,
First of all - Happy birthday Noah, have a great day.
Bitsy, I am in awe of your creativity with dd's birthday cake - it looks brilliant.
We're having a quiet day here, apart from ds's gf ringing in distress. Her cat had caught a bird and it was injured. DS is at worksoshe was by herself. I'd have gone down because they only live 20 minutes away but the poor thing died before I could.
Can't decide what to cook tonight - I might do kedgeree.
I hope everyone has a good day.0 -
Just a quick one from me to say Happy Birthday to Noah, hope you're having a great day!:bdaycake:
Hugs to anyone that wants/needs one, off to work now. Take care. XX0 -

Hello all, been very busy of late so haven't posted in AGES.
However, some OS joys, I tracked down a bucket with a lid (Boots online) so can make laundry gloop this week -I'll be fascinated to see how well it works.
Got three lovely books from Publisher's Book Clearance, one is The Best of Look -In, I bought Look-In every week for my son - he was thrilled when they published one of his jokes one week. ("What do you call an aardvark who's won his last three fights? A well-ard vark. What do you call an aardvark who's lost his last three fights? A vark." ) Anyway, DS will get this for his 28th b'day next month.
It's finally stopped raining here - won't risk the washing line tho.
Borrowed some painkillers from my son this week and stupidly stopped taking my anti-inflammatory tablets. (I have severe arthritis.) My hip barely held my weight whilst out shopping and I was worried I wouldn't make it home. Without my trusty stick I would have been stranded. First thing I did getting home was take some Diclofenac.
Didn't have much energy left for cooking so I shoved some frozen pre-cooked chicken joints in the oven and yellow label Rooster baking potatoes in the micro. This was decidedly yummy.
Yesterday I used a £5 Argos voucher to get a coffee maker for FREE - the 'Cookworks' model is now a third of the original price, at £4.99.
Have been adding essential oils to shampoo that I was bored with to make using it up more interesting. Must remember to pop some in the gloop too.
Wishing strength to all those battling the BD. These threads can be a really helpful source of support.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0
