Cannot get hold of nincompoop at the hospital:mad: My reading glasses do not fit and I have to splay the arms out to get them on - splaying the arms causes the front of the frame to flex so my specs creak. I also cannot read with them and because I have been trying to use my new glasses can no longer use my old reading glasses:mad: My distance glasses are dreadful - the prescription is wrong and the right lens is so thick that it touches my eye and I can feel it rubbing every time I blink:mad: I cannot read with them either and certainly cannot read computer screens or type my minutes which I need to do.
Two frongs chomped today - the divorce papers are now sealed and will be posted and I have packaged up something for an MSE friend that I will be sending northwards.0 -
Bah to glasses.

Just walked to the post office to discover that they were closed as the whole computer system is down so I couldn't even go to the main post office which is another half mile on top of what I had just walked away. Consoled myself with a bunch of cream gerberas as it seems my florist no longer sells daffs because of the supermarkets have priced them out of the market. I did manage to get 3 tete a tete daffs in a pot for 99p from the local hardware shop and jolly nice they look too plus when they have died off I will plant them in the garden.0

I am about to order some large paint samples from Crown - they have said that I can have some A5 colour samples so I shall get them ready for when I move in as they will give me an idea of what looks right where.0
-
I am not getting the paint samples now as the rotters want £2.99 per sample to cover P&P..stuff that for a game of solidiers.
Have also messed up my signature on here because I just cannot see, nincompoop at the eye hospital has failed to return my call (he will probably write a letter like last time), however, I have decided that I shall turn up unannounced on his doorstep tomorrow - even if I have to wait all day I will get my spexs sorted.
I may be getting rid of some of my stuff - I saw someone on freegle asking for some household things as she had to the keys to her first flat - I shall let her have a box of cutlery (has been sitting around unused for 3yrs) 4 large dinner plates, 2 white mugs, 2 soup bowls (charity shop purchase) - it beats me taking them to the chairity shop and I never use the large plates as I prefer smaller ones.0 -
Had a wasted trip to eye hospital this morning - the optician is on holiday and the earlies I can be seen is Wednesday:mad: I did drop my divorce papers off at the court and did spend some of my waterstones vouchers on books.
Came home to find that I had missed a call froposm my landlord claiming that I hadnt paid him any rent for the last 6 months when in fact I have as the bank switched the day to the last day of the month as opposed to it going out on 5th of the month. Needless to say landlord had his phone on voicemail so I have left a message telling him that. My last rental payment went out on 29 febrruay
Apologies for any typos I have double vision when looking at the computer.
Still on the hunt for boxes - need loads of them as I have loads of stuff to pack away.0 -
Grumble grumble grumble...this double vision sucks..I am trying to complete two online application forms for two NHS jobs - one as a secretary in a dental hospital (I hate dentists too:eek:) and the other in as a secretary in Corporate Governance Infection Prevention & Control. At least as I know that I meet the minimum criteria for both in terms of previous experience and qualifications despite not having AMSPAR I will be guaranteed an interview:cool:
My landlord hasn't phoned back. I need boxes and loads of them so that I can pack up my stuff. The fewer trips I make when it comes to moving day the better:D
I shall be getting plenty of house refurb ideas from my favourite Aussie programme Restoration The Block - in 2011 instead of restoring a block of flats they are restoring 4 houses. 3000 couples were whittled down to 4 and each couple is given a house to renovate which then goes to auction - the winners get the money the house goes for (probably less the money that it cost to restore as this money is given by the tv programme). I shall watch it every night on Home at 7pm at least until I am without cable tv. Talking of cable, I payed for the box and my modem so even though I won't be having cable in my new place I shall be taking them with me until such time as I do.:D
I have been looking at the books I bought today - 3 of them are Australian Woman's Weekly cookbooks and I have an Alan Titchmarsh gardening book and Alys Fowlers Thrifty Forager book.0 -
Managed to peruse some of my books last night as I wore my old reading glasses. My nose is raw from the pressure pads on my spex too.:(
The sun has now come out:j I have been to the shops and the post office. Came home with 2 bunches of daffs for mum which cost me £1. Mega savings made in the co-op as other than rolls everything came from the whoopsie shelf and I saved a massive £6. I got milk and a few bits in Tatco too and saved myself £5 in there as well:cool:
Now I need to enter my consumer pulse purchases and try and finish the online application form for the dental school and then I need to tackle the one for Infection Control.0 -
A bit miffed - I offered 4 dinner plates (in new condition) some mugs, cutlery etc to a young girl who was setting up home for the first time - I had sorted them out ready yet she hasnt had the courtesy to phone me about them or email me. Maybe my stuff just wasnt posh enough for her?
Off to see my parents today - I go bearing gifts and will come back bearing cake etc.:cool:0 -
I went to see Mum & Dad yesterday - both are as well as can be expected. Dad once again wanted to be sure that I wanted the house and I once again confirmed that I did. It seems that it will take 3 months according to their solicitors who will now be charging them over £1K:eek: Dad stressed that I would be responsible for the bills and I confirmed that was ok. It seems that the vendors have asked for £500 for the white goods - Mum won't pay that and has said that even though the washing machine is 4 months' old the guarantee remains with the original owner and cannot be passed on. We may well yet have to buy a fridge, cooker and washing machine (I can live without one - the one I have at the moment will be hard to move out of the cupboard as there is barely an inch leeway either side).
I said that I had been looking at paint charts to which Mum said she didnt want garish colours so I showed her the colour palette that I was looking at e.g. Natural Calico (happens to be the same colour as Mum's lounge), almond white, feather white and jasmine white - in essence all are shades of white and not a magnolia or garish colour amongst them. It seems that my first job will be painting the lounge (one room must be done at a time).
I came home with a steak, some cooked chicken, a slice of apple pie and 32 cushelle loo rolls which Mum decided that she wouldnt be using after talking to her sister. It seems that my aunt has had the drains blocked constantly and it turns out that it is caused by the cushelle toilet roll which does not dissolve - Mum decided on hearing that not to use the toilet roll at all and would buy new. I won't need any loo roll for the next 4 months now:D
Went to college today - must remember to take my own flask tomorrow. A 4 week course has become a 2 week one. My confidence is growing probably because there are only 5 of us on the course.0
