    whats you complaint?
they are too late or too early
    or both?
lunchtime will be quite early soon enough
Saturdays are often earlier days in delivery offices(theres an old agreement in place they will be "significantly earlier finishes" but that is going)
also many firms are closed so it changes the way duties are covered and the staffing levels

Where in my post did I say I was complaining ???? I was just adding my experience with my postman.

I remember now why I'm a reader on this forum and less of a poster.

least your posties deliver parcels. I was out for 10 mins on Friday when a replacement package for one that was sent here Recorded Delivery in APRIL was brought to my home.(thats a recorded Delivery folks that erm to use a term.. went walkies before getting here while in the postal system!!) I called the delivery office to arrange redelivery fo the item and after 1 hr 45 mins on the phone it was answered 10 mins before delivery office closing time and I was told it would be redelivered Sat.

Sat stayed in All day NO delivery

called them this morning at 8.30 o complain it wasnt delivered and was told that it would be delivered today.

sunnyjim our half dopey postie - the one who misdelivers almost every letter he gets given fr our block - shows up and walks past my flat with no post.

rings up Customer service and get given a number for delivery office as apparently their computer systems are showing that it has been successfully delivered. get a phone number thats the one that always rings and is never answered, get aniother one and thats just a fax machine.

I cannot go and collect this from delivery office as they will nto give me an item that is for a friend at my address ( friend is having it sent here as they live in non secure shared hostel housing) as I cannot prove that friend lives here, only who i am and that i live here..

why why WHY cant they deliver post when it has been arranged ??

anyone else think there is some agenda here?? custardy while professing to be an EX postie with the emphasis on EX still feels some need to vigourously defend them often to the point of ludicrosity. Has custardy ever come out and said WHY they are an EX postie??

I'm quite happy for my postie to do this. - Assuming i am out or in the garden. He can pop it in our open porch. - Saves me having to incurr and additional cost of going out to the depot to pick it up if i just happened to miss him. (Provided he does well to put it in the sheltered porch. I live in a fairly nice area, next to no crime, old lady for a neighbour who talks to the birds, trees and my cat.) If he simply left it out in the rain or didn't make any effort to 'hide it' like covered under our plastic recycling bins (small box shaped ones - not the wheely bin) then id have his name, rank and serial no. etc and there would be hell to pay. Then again if it was water proof packaging, i wouldn't really care.

the problem is it creates mixed messages
your postie is taking a big risk
what would you do if an item went missing but online it showed as delivered?
what happens to the next postie who isnt willing to sign for items? they then are treated as 'not being as good as the last postie(I've had this)
it should be one simple rule and as that stands its leave a card if nobody is home

There needs to be consistency in the service, you pay to get a signature so they should be getting a signature and not leaving a parcel anywhere without permission that is why many companies give you the option to have it left in a safe place when you order.
