Postmen signing for parcels and just leaving them?

I received a registered delivery letter through the post the other week - postie didn't knock for a signature and, when I input the details on the RM site, he'd forged my signature!

Complained to the office and was told they'd 'have a word' but I have no faith in them

On another occasion, I had a red card through (too big for the letter box). I left it a week before picking it up and, when I got to the PO, they brought 6 packages out. When I asked why I'd only had red card for 1 they said because postie knew I'd have to come down for the one anyway there was no point wasting his time writing out another 5 cards unnecessarily!!

On a separate note - sent 10 recorded parcels out 2 weeks ago (ebay), 6 have tracked, 4 haven't but I've had feedback for all but 1 so I know they got there - it's an absolute disgrace that customers pay for a service that they don't get!

Every time I have made a claim (made around 6 as I sell a lot), I get 6 first class stamps as compensation despite sending paypal receipts that clearly show the item(s) were worth more

They really are a shoddy company

Must say that I buy a ton of stuff online and im talking 1000s of items a year and never once have had a problem. Despite all the cuts and strain put on Royal Mail staff it is, for me, a valuable and effective service that I have confidence to use. I symphasise that there are posties that have been forced to cut corners to get the job done, it is not something they want to do but are forced to by unreasonable demands. People who knock them should try the job for a week im sure they would feel sorry.

if you are providing proof of postage then why are you accepting that?

Mainly because I don't know how to challenge it. I once had a dress go missing and they said the paypal payment wasn't sufficient, I needed to provide the actual receipt (which I didn't have)

Another time I had cinema tickets go missing and they said I wasn't covered as they were valuables and recorded doesn't cover valuables (fair enough but I can't justify charging someone £5+ for postage when I only sold them the tickets for £7!

This always makes me laugh. Because of their crap service they offer compensation of 6 measly stamps so you can then use their crap service.

    It's baffling.

as a business seller they require proof of value for claims
though if you escalate they may pay out
its right for tickets, only SD covers them

Probably would and I was in a similar job myself BUT they charge a lot more for the recorded service and not delivering, surely that is breaking some T&Cs

Yep, my postie is another one who doesn't get a signature. He just either puts the post that's meant to be signed for in the letterbox, or leaves it on the step.

Courier companies are by far the worst for this. Especially the ones who have franchised delivery rounds because if the driver doesn't deliver the parcel, he doesn't get paid for it. So they post it/leave it in your shed, put a scribble in place of your signature on the PDA on which you should sign, then get paid for it rather than taking it back to the depot to retry tomorrow.

Its a sackable offence at a most companies too.
Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam

It's fraud on the part of the delivery person/postman.
