Vodafone disconnection fee

The PAC code is only valid for 30 days and a new one will need to be requested after that time.
Yes I know that - think I just said that in a roundabout way.
I always make sure when coming to end of contract to ring up 30 days prior to the end date to either ask for PAC code (and use it within 30 days) OR give them 30 days notice by asking them to terminate the service on the contract end date.
The OP either asked for pac code or asked for pac code AND requested cancelation. It looks like the latter is happening with vodafone coming up with the disconnection fee applicable.
In any case, easy way to find out is 191.0 -
If your contract was up on 4th August, the right time to give notice would have been around 5th July.
If you gave notice on 16th July, you will be paying a bit extra for the complete 30 days from 16th July to around 14th August.
All networks disconnection fees are simply the total price of all of your remaining contractual period. How much is your monthly tarriff?
It will be something along these lines that you've given notice less than 30 days before your contractual period ends, although they are therefore entitled to charge you for a full extra month, £8 seems low so perhaps you've got away with only being charged from the 5th August to 16th August?Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.- Mark TwainArguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.0 -

Hi, thanks, I think you're spot on. Tariff is £15.32pm, contract ends 4 aug, pac requested 16 jul, so the cancellation fee if the contract were cancelled on 16 jul would be about £8 being the 18 or 19 days to run.
I cancelled a different contract a couple of weeks ago, and I was told at that time that 30 days notice is no longer required if you go the pac route, i.e. request the pac, then transfer the number and as part of that transfer process, the existing contract is automatically cancelled. If you use the pac before the end of the contract, then you pay up to the end (as you have said, and it looks like they call this the 'disconnection fee' which I didn't realise). If you use the pac after the end of the contract, then I suppose there'll be no 'disconnection fee').
Thanks for everyone's help.0
