Vodafone disconnection fee

I have a voda contract which is ending on aug 4. Today i requested my pac, so I can put the number on a new phone and cancel the existing contract.
In the email with my pac, I also got a notification of a disconnection fee of £8.
i searched the voda website and the net in general and can't find any reference to such a disconnection fee. Also, I cancelled another voida contract about 3 weeks ago under the same circumstances, and there was no mention of a disconnection fee.
Does anyone know anything about it to shed some light on the situation? If I cancel the contract after aug 4 (when the existing contract ends) are there any fees at that time? Thanks

If your contract was up on 4th August, the right time to give notice would have been around 5th July.
If you gave notice on 16th July, you will be paying a bit extra for the complete 30 days from 16th July to around 14th August.0 -

Giving notice and getting a PAC are different things, do not confuse them as the procedures and notice periods are different.0 -

Yes, that's what I understood too. To cancel a contract, all you have to do is request the pac (they have to give it to you within 2 hrs iirc), thren use the pac to put your number on a new phone within 1 month, and when you do, the existing contract is cancelled (no one months notice required).
But still the disconnection fee is a mystery, and I'd appreciate help with that if anyone knows about it.0 -
Does it use the words 'disconnection fee' or another phrase? Is this a business or consumer contract and what is the name of the tariff?0

Not clear text message. Ring Vodafone 191 and ask if you use the PAC after the end of your contract, does the disconnection fee still apply and, if so, why?0 -

Am not confusing anything. As I have always understood it, asking for a PAC code is giving 30 days notice. Use PAC code within 30 days and your contract ends on that day.
Say PAC code is used on day 14, the service is terminated. You still get billed for the remaining 16 days as that is part of the notice period.
Vodafone (from memory) bill one month ahead. So I am assumming the OP has paid upto the 4th August and the disconnection amount adds up to the 30 days period.0 -

Asking for a PAC code is not giving notice.
As soon as you use your PAC code, it serves as your 30 day notice, so if you use your PAC code on day 14 on receiving the code, you add 30 days from then as your notice which is chargeable.0 -

So what is the "30 days" if not a notice period?
I know the pac code has to be used within 30 days and if it isn't , the contract continues. I know vodafone sometimes adjust bills after the PAC code has been used, applying credit back to the account which gets paid back to the bank account.0 -

The PAC code is only valid for 30 days and a new one will need to be requested after that time.0
