A letter acceptance from LHA

Could you help about my enquiry ? Just I need some explain about (a letter of acceptance from LHA) , is this will be from a current council or the new council??, if from a new one ,will it enquire me to provide the lease before giving like this letter? Is that right?

Hello every one
Acuatlly I do know from where I can explain what happened ,
I found a flat to rent from agency here in london and after I saw that flat I have given to him reservation fees and agency fee also and all of them be 1000 thousand and before I singed he talled me what he need to complete every think to give that flat and he talled me acceptance from LHA cos I depend on housing benefit ,
After one day I sent him all what he need with my current confirmation of LHA , to complete every think but he replied me after 7 day that he need a acceptance from the new council not my current one , in that time I was really surprised about that how the new council will accept to give me that without the lease ,otherwise I went to the new city council and spoke with them but they confirmed that never will be without the lease and I retuned to the agency and I said with him what happened but he unfortunately refused to give me the lease
And he said that I lost my money and that flat

Now I need some help what I can do and have anybody hear like that before???

You claim Local Housing Allowance (Housing Benefit) from the 'new' council where you move to. They will not pay this before you move in and to process your claim they need some sort of proof that you have this new tenancy. It doesn't have to be the 'lease' but a rent book or letter from the agency to say you are moving in. They won't process a claim if you don't live there.

Malak to be honest I'm not really sure what you mean but I have some concerns about you saying you have lost the money to the agent. Once again tonight I have put a link to a website. It is Shelter which is a housing charity. They are very experienced in this sort of thing and will do everything they can to help you if you ring them on Monday http://england.shelter.org.uk/

Many thanks for your very useful reply , this explain I have needed it to be know if I am on right or wrong ..

Sueless , I have meant about I lost my money cos agency estate take my reservation money and he did not accept to give me the lease to bring what he has requested ( he requested to provide a confirmation letter from The new council without provide me a lease
I think he scammed me , now what I can do know

I think you need to speak to the agency, the council will not give you LHA before you have signed a tenancy. It sounds like a scam to be honest, not sure if you were to get the police involved if they would be able to do anything.

Thank you for your reply , I have spoken to him and explained to him the council never give me that letter without a lease but he refuse to give me a lease without that a letter ,
In fact when I read these condition that he wrote , I thought he mean my current confirmation from LHA cos it is impossible to bring a letter from the new council without a lease ,

I have given a letter from the agency estate to the council That he need a confirmation letter, but they confirmed it is impossible to give me a confirmation letter without a lease,

Is the agency a proper company ? See if they have internet site.
