There are Blackberry curves and blackberry curves. Look for the number at the end. The more recent will have 3G (which means you can surf the Internet faster), a better camera, flash for said camera.
Ive got the curve 8520 which came out about a year ago. It now looks like an older model without said updates -though perfectly fine.
One note on data, iPhones eat data compared to blackberrys, far less Apps and unlikely to download videos to blackberrys, so 500MB is plenty for a BB but the lowest limit you would want for an iPhone. Assuming in both cases you link to wifi at home.
Yeah the Blackberry they're offering is definitely an older one, I think it may be a 8520 actually. But I'm not too fussy about an all singing all dancing one, as really I can't afford it and ideally want to cut my mobile costs.
I can't see me using much data so that should be fine.

You think you know people then you find that of a weekend they dress up like neo-facists and provoke some fierce dogs to pursue a small defenceless furry animal across open countryside and watch it being ripped to pieces while still alive for fun.
After the revolution each weekend we will dress in our boiler suits and pursue a leading member of the local hunt (hopefully a parent with small kids who will be left to fend for themselves) across a bit of derelict industrial wasteland riding on mini-motos before ritually shanking them.
In the meantime we should probably avoid this topic on the nice people thread.I think....0 -

I think if all the NPs started voicing their differences in values and this would rapidly be the very unpleasant people's threads. e.g. I'm guessing the parents here parent differently etc.....and I dare say no one would be impressed to be told their choices were unethical there.
IMO what looks unethical can in fact be less unethical than the nicer looking alternative.
Incidentally on a simialr theme, they were saying on Radio 4 about hessian bags not being environmentally friendly because you'd have to to use each one 130 times to make it better than a one use bag......but seems to me thats two and half years use for most people's bags (except when you buy too many) and whose die after two and a half years? They are amazingly long lasting. I love hessian bags, they don't break or cut through your hand and they don't tip over in the boot and they last years and years. I have a mucky couple, but they get used for storing things..either for the animals or shed sort of stuff.0 -
The start up costs are a bit with horse box, field shelter, electric fencing, and so on but the annual costs aren't so bad. New rug every winter, worming every so often, flu jab, few other bits n pieces, feed n digs, probably comes in around £1200 pa for them both. One is a Welsh sec D and the other a New Forest summit. I have no real interest in them.

Lir. If you can start up without having business debt and work up to being profitable without relying on your income to pay the bills then no reason why it can't work. The other lot may have had to rely in their income and had debt with the bank then lost customers by increasing prices in the recession, it can easy get on top of you.
I haven't seen this persons books or finances, and its dangerous to make assumptions on rumour, so I haven't really. But it is possible to work out their equestrian income if you know what livery plan people are on (which you would if you kept a horse there) and that's pretty impressive, and good for them, why shouldn't it be? I do wonder about the investment made on the property....dangerous to start big investments on something rented....it might simply be that contrary to the gossip they aren't on their uppers but the tenancy has not been renewed by LL. Pretty gutting for them if its not their choice with what would appear to be a successful and profitable business. They'd be incredibly lucky to find another set up with such low rental price compared to income raisable from livery. Its a really nice set up.0 -
grrr...I used to make pastry really easily without a problem, but have had some disaters in the last year. I've just taken a sweet shortcrust pastry out from the oven and its shrunk A LOT. dh will hav eto have a very shallow tart (no jokes about how he already has one of those please.)0

But that's one of the things I love about this thread. You get to know people, and like them, and consider them your friends, and then later you discover that they belong to some category of people you would never have imagined being friends with - travellers, single parents on benefits, BTL landlords, property developers, people who went to boarding schools, people whose siblings hunt, Jews, Christians, mushroom haters, whatever. So we discover that, despite disagreeing with each other, or having completely different experiences and priorities, we aren't "us and them" but just "us".Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Shrinkage is normally a liquid problem - that includes the fat & eggs.
This is going to sound daft but has the temperature of your hands changed with the years? A lot of the art of pastry is also in the handling. I have always been a respectable pastry maker but never mastered the art of making really good cakes0 -

I've always had ''pastry hands'' cold! I think I MIGHT have overworked it...could that be the problem? recipe was 250gr flour, 125 icing sugar, 1 egg and 125 butter (and lemon zest).
I have some left too, though not enough for a second attempt!0 -

Overworking could well be the problem. If you think that's what happened I would go with that.
I just converted all your measurements to "English" :rotfl: (I will forever be known for my total blankspots on metric measures.) & then realised I needn't have bothered - d'oh.
I usually work on 4 flour,2 fat,1 sugar,1 (large) egg or close thereto.
On that basis the only thing that looks different would be the extra sugar but I don't see that would definitely lead to shrinkage.0
