Didn't mention it on the date for fear if identification in the real world.:rotfl:
That's why I use initials and unusual words instead of specifics/details re stuff like olds and the H place..... in case a sibling's googling for information/prognosis/etc and finds me :)

I also didn't mention my birthday when it occurred for the same reasons...

I used to be careful about that sort of thing. LydiaJ's anonymity was hopelessly compromised, though, when I decided I needed the support of the NP about the accident. I don't say anything here that would be problematic if it was traced back to me IRL now. I have other online identities, though - some in my real name (eg FB) but with limited access, and one that I keep completely anonymous and am ultra careful not to put anything identifiable on.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

I am now arranging for the old to go under lock and key from next week, so things should be easier to speak of in future. And I have a house to sell starting next week.

Sorry to hear about your mum Tom....I know how worrying it can all be as dad has been having a series of mini strokes just recently and is back to seeing consultants, having scans etc, something they thought had all finished after his big strokes last year.

Mum is convinced he will not see very many more Christmas days.

Today went well, arrived at my parents just after 10.30 to find my brother, his wife, her mum and his two children had already arrived but my ex mother in law had not...so some very impatient children had to await her arrival.

Once she arrived though, all hell let loose, the noise was incredible, the mess unbelievable but all offspring (including us adult offspring), were very pleased with all our gifts.

Eldest son had got me some Piggins (I used to collect them but have had to sell them off gradually since the divorce to pay essential bills), middle son had got me two CD's, both of which I really wanted and youngest got me a new wheat bag (my wonderful old wheat bag has been mislaid, probably at my parent's caravan)

Apart from the gifts from the boys, my parents got me a new kettle (Wallace and Gromit) and my absolute favourite chocolates, my sister got me chocolates, my brother's mother in law got me chocolates and my brother and wife got me chocolates.....think I am going to be alright for chocolate for some while yet.

Youngest did find the day difficult but we are used to that now and he now knows what to do.....take himself off to another room (usually upstairs) and away from people. We used to stress about it and try to get him to join in but that only made things worse, so we just accept that he just doesn't enjoy the randomness of Christmas.

I did do lots to help my parents out with the dinner but overdid things a little, almost near collapse just as we were serving.

Mum loved her necklace I got her and she wore it all day, admiring it in the mirror all through the day.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

For our honeymoon, convention / tradition dictates that you go on honeymoon after your wedding, so Xmas prices and the fact we were young and had no savings dictated that we only got as far as the Canaries.

For our SWA we could go before The Date, so take advantage of off season prices and go for more luxury.

Note we are still relatively young.

    Luxury!

We got as far as London for 3 nights and stayed with relatives. We had no savings either, it really was a tight budget for our first 3 or so years together.

Eeeeeeee we had it tough, and you tell the kids of today that and will they believe you? :rotfl:

Lovely relaxing day at old's yesterday.

They come to us today..... and yes..... we do the food all over again!
I think most people think we're barmy but we all love it and the kids and DW would be up in arms nowadays if anything else was suggested.

    Happy Boxing Day all.:D

I'm still full from dinner yesterday. Ate one bread roll before dinner, dinner was late as we went to the H place, so we ate at about 6ish. Had; turkey, nut roast, stuffing balls, yorkshire, roast spuds, roast parsnips, brussels, carrots, brocolli, cauliflower, peas, baked onion, gravy. No starters, no desserts. Later, I did manage to scoff two sweeties and a satsuma.

    Still full today though.

Today is my busy day. The boys are on their way to do presents. Trifle to make, then veg to prep, pigs in blankets and stuffing to blitz.

Small lunch and then dinner at proper dinner time.

Proper dinner time varies, depending on how you were brought up/who you know.

To me, dinner's at dinner time.... middle of the day. Else, why do school have dinner ladies if it's not dinner? And 5-7pm meals are tea.

Today is a chill day, we don't need to be down to my parents until about 4 this afternoon...until then, we don't have to do anything!

Blooming good thing too, finally got youngest to settle after 2am this morning and he needs to have a bit of chill time before the madness which is my parent's house on Boxing day.

    Me too.
Up at 7. Was v tired.... prob something to do with the booze and copious food from yesterday :D
    First job to prep turkey.
Changed from tarragon and butter under the skin to Jamie's suggestion this year of sage, rosemary, thyme, cranberries in the butter etc. Looking forward to it.
Pigs and blankets and stuffing prepped.
    Veg prepped.
    Mum brings the trifle. Phew.

Now having a mental break with some NP chat :D and some Boxing Day taunting of the nutters. Can't help myself it seems :o

:T Yep, same here but I've been trying to use lunch and dinner for the last 10 years as too few people in the country share the terminology it seems!
