I agree with all of that. (Loving that word "odiously" too. ;))

Me too. In fact as an adult the first point of decent into behaviour is still somewhat odious IME:o Somewhere between odious and slob (or I'd submit, ''yob'') is smarmy I think.

I meet a lot of kids through the library Lydia and I'm convinced that kids are kids too. I've met immaculately behaved rich kids, poor kids, British-born kids, immigrant kids.... The well behaved ones, save perhaps a little something about how they are dressed or drop the occasional consonant, you can't really tell apart. Ironically I think the badly behaved ones you can tell their background as they resonate it more loudly if that makes sense. The working class badly behaved ones act like slobs, whereas the wealthier badly behaved odiously, like something out of a Harry Enfield video. A bit like a class pastiche. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad. Thankfully they are very much in the minority.

Incidentally, among the best behaved ones I've met are the three youngsters of a certain Hertfordshire NP. They were lovely.

just look at their names. if they've got ludicrous names like hugo, india or octavia then you know they are going to be trouble.

apologies to those of you who are called hugo, india or octavia.

    Oh Sue.

I am so sorry it is being so hard for you. I don't know what to say. Mainly, I feel it is so horribly unfair that you have to cope with all of this on your own, when those boys have another parent who does nothing. But I expect you have got beyond that ages ago, and accepted that ex is useless, so maybe that's not very helpful.

Are you the sort of person who can catch up on sleep during the day? If so, then please do, and don't worry about whatever else you ought to be doing today.

We are all here for you as much as we can be. Sorry we can't do anything very much to make a difference.

    (((hugs)))

To be honest, it still pees me off..especially when he posts about some super duper weekend away he is having, or parties he is going.

Re sleeping during the day, I do try to after having a bad night but it is a very rare occurrance because something always happens.....right now, it is eldest having laptop probs at school (FAT tests again), chasing up some info for housing benefit who have decided it would be great fun getting me to run around like a headless chicken getting information they already have (stuck on hold right now to a government department, argh!) and lastly but my main concern, I have an assignment due in on Wednesday morning...right now, I can't even begin to think straight let alone write 1600 words on the Scottish legal system.

Think it may end up being another all nighter tonight to get everything done as tomorrow James is up at the hospital having blood tests and an ECG and then possibly seeing his cardiologist.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Sue. Have you asked your GP to get your Middle Son some CBT or similar for his OCD?

See, this is what I love about this place....I hadn't even thought of that! Although not sure what can be done as the OCD is part of his Aspergers but any improvement would be better than nothing right now!

MY DDs (7 and 5) have hyphenated names which I now understand is the height of chavyness, not saved even by the fact that the hyphenated parts are very ordinary and biblical and have 'classical' spellings.

What I find amusing is you can almost guess in advance how other parents will spell DDs names on party invitations as some parents seem to feel it is essential to add 'y's and 'ee's as often as possible.

In the case of my surname, people seem to like adding a 'son' on the end. The boys first names are all pretty easy and standard....their middle names (apart from eldest), are not.

Out of interest, do you guys tip your postman, and if so how much? I think we give him a Christmas card with £5-10, but we are nowhere near the £30 limit. Do any of the NP come close?

I feel that we are a lot of extra work for him, as the letter box is at the bottom of the door, and I work on the top floor of the house, so it takes me a minute to get downstairs to answer him if there is something to sign for.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
