I always use a proper mouse, can't get the hang of those annoying pads at all....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
A great drive especially if you hung a right at Achnasheen and went via Loch Duich and the Seven Sisters.
Bet you didn't find this beach at Mellon Udrigle though, just 3 miles off your route and IMO the best beach in the world
I went to Cornwall many years ago but although nice it was too crowded for me and I hated having to pay to park in order to go on a beach.
Morning all fellow grockles.
I have just been for a holiday drive in North West Scotland.
First time I've found myself off roading on "street view"; got to a small community and had to do a handbrake turn next to a big rock and a blue notice that said "No Parking turning place only".
I wonder if driving one of those "street view" cars was a fun job?
Anyone know what the rules are. My late mother kived in what had become over a period of 100 years a suburban road. Technically it was public highway, but legally unadopted and still private (ie frontagers had to pay for road repairs. When "street view" first started this road was included, but it has since been taken off the Google maps options for "street view" photos.0 -
Seeing your competitive, this is what i did this morning...
Course, if you get quicker i may have to try harder
How did you do the pic thing?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Just braved the debate forum, and I think people are licking the lead paint again.
Other than that, beautiful autumn morning, blue skies, bit cold. Keep on hearing it is going to snow. Hope this does not happen.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

...and there lies the problem. I really can't see how many of them can have that much time to post if they're working? Then of course when they do, it descends to arguement with both sides throwing their toys out of the pram. Shame, back in them olden days you could have a great little discussion0 -
Can I ask for reccomendations for where to get the best deal on a new car stereo folks?
Decided against the idea of the DAB - mainly cos you need an extra fiddly ariel.
Ideally I'd like a cd player & radio that plays mp3's, & has either an aux socket or a usb port.
TIA!:)It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

You take a screen print, save the image file and then upload it to a pic hosting site like tinypic, imageshack, photobucket,...then insert the link through the 'insert image button'Just braved the debate forum,
That was brave
I'm not much of a poster there because I have no interest whatsoever in house prices and others are more qualified than me to post about economic issues. There's hardly any debate left, and I don't feel like reading endless bickering between 'bears and bulls'.
I'll stick to this thread, today I learned sat dishes always point south/southwest.
Still pondering about 'southwest' though. If a satellite is in a geosynchonous orbit south east to us, they would be pointing that way, no? Why southwest?0 -

Me neither. The likes of Graham can't see much action, methinks. I couldn't achieve 1/4 of his output and I'm retired! :rotfl:0 -
I'm impressed - I didn't know my 'stans and some of those little islands in the indian/pacific ocean had me scratching my head, I also had to stop and think about it even in the 'easy' ones like Europe.
I had a look at the Carribean and South Pacific but beyond Fuji, Haiti and the Dominican Repulic I didn't have a scooby.
I would really like to get the kids a nice globe - anyone know where to find one for reasonable money?
Frequently find globes in stationary shops round here.

I don't mind not knowing where I am if someone else is driving (or leading the way if walking), or even if I'm driving but have a passenger who's on their home turf and directing me live. But I hate following directions. I never feel confident that they will make sense to me, or that I will manage not to miss whatever it is I'm supposed to be looking for. I'm confident reading a map if I've got my hands and eyes free for it, but of course map-reading and driving aren't exactly compatible. I haven't got a satnav, but my phone has an interactive map thing that shows me a patch of map, a coloured line to show me where my planned route goes, and a blue flashing arrow that's my position. That's perfect for me. It usually works fine, and on the odd occasion when I end up going the wrong way (eg if I don't get in the right lane and can't get to where I ought to be) it's easy enough to find a way back to the blue line.
I remember a friend giving me directions to someones house over the phone. Started making notes. Ended up with 3 pages of A4 notes!
Have to say though, best directions I've ever had in my life. So descriptive! It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0
