I liked the taste of liver, but the tubes would put me off ... and I am far too much of a wuss to EVER handle raw liver ... EWWW.
Tubes ARE gross, I agree. Its so dreadful to put kids off such a healthy and underated bit of meat.
I don't mind raw meat.
The thing I like least dealing with are bones...anything to be eaten on the bone. I love chops, which makes this rather and awkward dislike! I'm sure its a huge part of the reason I'm less brave with fish cookery too.0 -

You were lucky! (said in Yorkshire accent)
Nowadays, kids never get to eat liver in school dinners. They may have things made with liver, or just as likely, made from the tubes and other 'bits,' but it'll be disguised as something else!
I suppose it started during the 60s. Then, we would get meatball things with rice stuck on and in them that we called 'hedgehogs.' They obviously had a high liver input, but they were popular. I remember I used to do my famous with glasses/without glasses, badges on/badges off, altered hairstyle routine to become two separate people when they were on the menu.:D

I cook calves liver for about 30 secs a side, Foie Gras a little longer 'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0

....turned out to be a magpie walking up and down on the velux window. Any suggestions for making them go away? I'll be having scaffolding up in a few weeks' time to get my solar panels done, so it would be a good time for anything that involves going on the roof.
My neighbour uses a Larsen trap, but you might prefer something more electronic....

Thanks. That's a helpful site. I don't want to trap them - I expect I'd get rid of one, and then some more would come along. In any case, I don't want to have to deal with trapped birds.
Does anyone know if those decoy owls/falcons work? Or should I just get a mesh thingy to block their access to the top of the chimney pot??Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

I think a bird of prey shape would work.0 -
I use decoys...but nothing you'd want on your roof.

Also, most successfully, I use cds but magpies might like that
edit: I've just remembered we used to have a crane in the pond to put of other cranes from eating fish and my parents now have an ornamental metal one that does the same function.0 -
I hope no one minds me posting in here but I'm trying to stay out of the main housing/economy forum after a bit of argie-bargie with a previous username I had (RenovationMan). Indeed, I posted once in the housing forum and the person in question was straight onto me like a terrier. lol.
I saw a post that lostinrates posted about her wanting to live 'off the grid' and I know she posts a lot on this thread so hoped to chat about it on here if that's OK?0 -
Anything is fine in here so long as its ''nice''0

For LJ, Wheezy and anyone else who's interested, I began putting together this little cold frame yesterday......
Should be able to squeeze a few more chillis in there next season.0
