Good news indeed! We had such problems with our shared (with 3 other properties) drain, from now on it will be "Allo Veolia Water, your drain is blocked again!" I expect water bills to rise quite considerably though, although the water companies state it will be minimal....

Same here...a 4 pint bottle lasts maximum 2 days :D

    Happy Birthday LJ!

We were woken extra early this morning by ex husband wanting to know if we were awake yet...after one of my 'not able to get to sleep until stupid o clock' nights, I was less than impressed.

Eldest liked my rather modest presents I gave him, all alcohol related I am afraid (which is pretty weird bearing in mind I rarely drink) but it seemed apt. We are all off to my parents after school for him to open his other presents from family and to have a little tea party...oh and to do what he has always promised my dad - to buy him a pint as soon as he was legally able to (although dad drinks wine since his strokes)

We're not sure, but we think dad may have had a smaller stroke over the last week as he had a funny turn while they were away on holiday and has not been right since, so he is going back up to the docs to get it checked out and possibly referred. I'm not going to say anything to eldest though, not right away as since his father has gone, he has seen my dad as the father figure.

Ex should've known by the lack of response that you weren't up!

Hoping the lad has a stellar day!

I remember (kinda!) getting very, very ill on the evening of my 18th.

Very good news... it probably needs replacing in the next fifteen years, and we'd have had to take out a new mortgage:D

Now it is SOMEONE ELSE'S PROBLEM:T

I don't think anyone really has a clue how much sewage bills are going to rise.

    Top notch!

So, what you're saying is, is that it won't be long until we're all knee deep in the s h i t?;)

Thanks - after posting I also googled and ended up in exactly the same place you have quoted from. Obviously the fact that the probability increases with the incidence is relevant but someone is going to be in the unlucky 0.0001% of any distribution with a large enough population.

Whilst bad luck is a possible explanation, it is very unlikely. According to http://miscarriage.about.com/od/pregnancyafterloss/qt/miscarriage-rates.htm, "about 10% to 20% of women who know they are pregnant have a miscarriage some time before 20 weeks of pregnancy". So, the chance of 5 miscarriages with a satisfactory pregnancy in the middle is less than 4 in 10,000.

They also say, unsurprisingly, that the chances of miscarrying are higher if you have had several of them:
What if I had a miscarriage last time?
With one past miscarriage, the odds of miscarrying in your next pregnancy are about 20% (not much higher than someone without a history of miscarriage). With two previous miscarriages, the risk of another miscarriage is 28%, and with three previous miscarriages the risk increases to 43%. It's possible that having testing for recurrent miscarriage causes might help in these cases.
    I think....

can't you buy more milk at one time...even if it cut the shops down to every second or third day it could be helpful.

DH is fanatical about milk...he's always in a rush to try the local milk. I didn't like alpine milk much, and noticed a drop in consumption and I drink less milk in the summer than in the winter thinking about it.

Why would you buy milk daily? We get our entire weekly supply in one shop, and just freeze it. There's no difference in taste.

Ooooh, disagree with this. Indeed I almost quoted LIR's earlier post about freezing milk. To my tongue, there is a definite difference in taste - although that could just be me. I recall drinking milk as a child that had previously been frozen, & to me it didn't taste right?

The shop is opposite the workplace, so no extra journey/cost or anything.

I think it depends on what type of milk you are freezing....and weirdly, milk from different places freezes better or worse IME..I can think of no reason why this should be so though. I rarely have a problem with freezing my skimmed milk, some times milk goes yellow when frozen, but less and less often.

We buy milk from the supermarket - it typically says it will last 10 days and generally is still fine after 10 days if there is any left - do others buy different sorts of milk?

(I have to admit I only use it on cereal occasionally so am far from an aficionado on great tasting milk - unlike water where I got the company to switch water cooler suppliers as I didn't like the taste of the first one they had)
    I think....
