This could be an important first step for old. While it would be over-optmistic to expect a transformation, it's amazing what a difference some socialising and involving activity can do for self-esteem and awareness in older people.
I think ladies take to this somewhat better than most men brought up in your folks' era.0 -
PN, oits brilliant that Old is upbeat about it. When is she off there, I hope she has a good time!
The SUN is here, HURRAH! I'm over the moon about it!0 -

They get picked up/dropped off at home, lunch included and some activities. Hope the old really takes to it as it provides a lot of the services they can use (bathing, haircuts, lunch, chatting).
Alzheimer's Day Care was good for my Dad until he tried to beat up the bus driver one morning when he (Dad) got confused.:doh:Up until that point he really enjoyed it.
The thing is they were all on the same wavelength. What station they were tuned into is anyone's guess though!
Rain, rain and more rain in Sydney. I wanted to take Mrs Generali up The Entrance this weekend but it looks like we might have to stay in ;0).0 -
DD's birthday. Mostly it's been going well, but unfortunately she's been bitten by her main present.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Yes. A white one with dark pink eyes. She has named it Snowy. She chose it on Tuesday, so it's been settling into its new cage for a day or two, as per recommendations, and is now supposed to be able to start being played with a little. She has forgiven it for biting her, and it is now marauding round the house in its ball. (It's a female, but if I call it she, then the pronouns get muddled with DD!).Do you know anyone who's bereaved? The sun has really made me feel better today. even mauve squeaker cat (who doesn't like going out without me much here because of all the barn cats I think) is playing on the grass in the sun.0
