What is going on with the weather?
i've just driven home, mostly along the M4. What is going on with the weather?
We are in the UK.One minute it is clear, bright and dry; the next it is bucketing down and black.
Er... that is UK weather. In fact, it is a workable weather forecast for the next three months.
Except for scotland, where it is worse.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

A good staff who will ''invite'' Old to the day room a couple of times a day...help her find her way and not wait to be invited/let her feel excluded are important.
I agree, but it's important to match the home with the elderly person, even within those parameters. For example, the nice, non pee-smelling place that had sensor-operated air fresheners would've been far too posh for Dad. Silver service dining wasn't his thing.
On the other hand, the place full of ladies doing sit-down physical activities was also hopeless. They were led by a woman whose Joyce Grenfell impressions would have shamed any reception teacher. Dad's reaction was something like "Bloody hell, they're all raving. Get me out of here!" He was so keen to leave he never even saw the rooms. Enforced merriment was not his bag either! :rotfl:0 -

I don't think you can.
I plant mine with slow release fertilizer and chicken poo granules in the compost, but I put that on top of real, well-rotted poo. (This year it's pig.) Then, when they're fruiting well, I feed once a week with a high k liquid fertilizer.
Next year, I'll be feeding them with liquid feed made from comfrey. This is an offshoot of a nasty smell project, to enrich the life of an annoying neighbour, if he doesn't behave himself.
There is nothing more vile-smelling than comfrey water......unless you know differently, that is. I'm still open to suggestions, but it has to be legal, harmless, and not silage, because we're all used to that round here.0 -

All was a complete lie, somebody had just secured some funding and said that's what it was for - the reality was different. I did get a really cr4p lunch from them and the "interview with a careers advisor" literally consisted of me going over the road to the M&S public cafe, sitting down and she saying "Shall I put you on a Life Skills course?" and hovering her pen (I bet everybody else just said yes).... and I said "er ... no .... I want to know what I should do..." and she said "Oh .... go to XYZ website and pick a course then, if we allow/approve it, you've a budget of £300" and that was the end of it. So I did - and I let her know and she said "Oh no, funding's only for a level 1-3 course".... so I found a level 3 one and emailed her - and I got a letter 4 weeks ago saying funding approved. Well, I've been a bit busy, so didn't get round to doing anything about it for the past month, but this morning I booked it. Picked Events Management, online course. Now awaiting start date etc. I can't believe it's a Level 3 course.... they literally do give qualifications away these days like sweeties
There's no such thing as a free lunch! :beer:0 -

What we emptied out of our sewage pipe in order to fix it (all ten feet of it) did not smell worse than comfrey liquid.
However, I can confirm that if you keep sheep, and they die over the weekend in July (during peak fly season), by the time they are collected they are worse than Comfrey.
Maybe I shouldn't have posted that on the Nice Person Thread.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Durians smell truly awful. May be a 'challenge' to the greenfingered types to grow one in the UK though.
Once witnessed a kerfuffle in a queue for a flight in Borneo when the tell tlae smell gave away what another passenger had in their hand luggage. They were not allowed to board with it.0 -

I love durians. They don't smell bad at all (to me). Perhaps it's a matter of preference though.
Blast, I forgot to snip the tomatoes today, a few were covered in blight yesterday and I was distraught (and in a rush) so left them.
That's the end of that tomato crop then. I wish I didn't get blight0
