Generally here we're not eating at the moment. The remaining old is eating half what they normally do and just sitting all day every day staring at the wall. And I've reached the stage where I can't face sitting and watching them stare at the wall, so it's a choice of staring at the same wall, or hiding on my PC.... so here I am.0

No, it was just round. Chocolate cake - they know we all like that best. I did have candles on it, although not 42 of them. One of them was stuck into a holder with a 4 and a 2 stuck in it behind the candle, though. They sang happy birthday and I had to blow out the candles and make a wish. A few years ago DD was convinced that I would want a party with lots of games, and that we should do party bags to give to my grown-up friends to take away with them. She's grown up a bit now, and didn't suggest we should do bags for me to take to the pub last night with my mates from work.
I had a lady friend have a birthday recently. I got her a cake where instead of a number of candles added together gave the number of her birthday, the candles were letters spelling out "happy birthday". I think it got me brownie points!:D (& saved the bacon of a few people who had forgotten to get her one!)PasturesNew wrote: »I'll be seeing a solicitor next week; can't wait the month as I need to understand what it means as we need to get the remaining old sorted out and in order to do that we need to understand everything (money, needs)..... It is never a mither for the NP PN. That is what NP do.:)It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

Ah yes, I thought after I'd posted that perhaps you had chosen your words carefully. Sorry. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Pastures, if it would help you to type it all out, you're welcome to. Those of us who want to help will read it, and if there are others who skim over it, that doesn't matter. If you'd rather not go into details, that's totally fine too. But what matters is what is most helpful to you, not whether it's a bother to any of us.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

That is one of those time things PN. When I've lost someone close, I almost feel guilty eating. I suspect others feel similar things. Eventually nature makes you eat, because you simply have to. My nan almost gave up eating when we lost my grandad. Indeed, we spent a fair bit of effort in making sure that she ate, & also that she ate meals, otherwise she'd have hardly eaten anything.
Cooking for one person is also one of the most demoralising things, because it seems such an effort for just one person. All that mess, and washing up after. Too easy to just have a boiled egg, or sandwich. Bad habit to fall into imo. But I appreciate it because I do feel it myself. One of the greatest pleasures ever is cooking for someone you are close to, and seeing the pleasure they get from it.
Have a gander at the signs link I posted PN. I hope it brings a smile to you.:) Even just a brief one.:)It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
