Moo - u would be proud, am picking up some free empty jars from freecycle. i AM going to make that picalilli on nov 19th. :) thankyou!!!

How fab! Don't make the mistake of tasting it once its finished. It'll be ghastly for quite some time then miraculaously it trasforms from disgusting smelling runny slop to the most awesome thing you've ever tasted. Means you're in for quite a wait though. Its v. exciting when you unearth a box you've forgotten about....which reminds me theres a box of Damson Chutney lurking in the cupboard which will go very nicely with yesterdays whoopsied goats cheese.

Got a wee bit carried away with yesterdays whoopsies. Bought 20kg of spuds, 162 sausages, a flash drive, two stainless steel mixing bowls, 96 Ch-ch-ch-charmin loo rolls, a pair of thermal hiking boots, 24 bottles of juice for DD1 who is incapable of refiling one for school, a vast array of fruit and veg, bread, milk and a heck of a lot of cheese splurging £145 in the process. Hopefully that means I won't need to buy any more meat for the next month nor loo rolls for at least two if not three.

Total spend to date £500 including the posting of yesterdays E-bay parcels. Not planning to spend anything at all for any reason for the remainder of the week with the exception of the DDs activities. The way things are going I won't be spending anything next week either.

Have cleared out another drawer and found a whole heap of obsolete foreign currency. Off to trawl E-bay to see whether it worth listing them there or whether Cash4coins is a better option.

First up - love the sock! I'm so impressed - knitting with two needles is hard enough for me, so I couldn't begin to understand knitting with four... oh, and those aren't mistakes - they are indicators of handcrafted goods. ;)

Most impressed with your whoopsies (oh, that sounds bad doesn't it?) - where do you shop to get such great opportunities?

    Nora.

    Why thank you ma'am.

The great whoopsie shop occurred at Makro. They were having a huge clearout of old stock and short dated stuff.

Had the most delicious lunch of hot goats cheese on toast with a liberal helping of damson chutney. Need to get the remainder of the batch labelled up and packaged as christmas gifts. Wish I'd made more.

Well done on the socks Moo. You have a good pair of hands on you. :)

Loved the idea of playing doctors and nurses with hubby. What are they like. A rag nail would make them cry, saying that he must have got some shock when the drill went out of control. (see I said it was the drills fault...thinking like a man) :)

I am salivating at the thought of goats cheese and damson chutney ..... yumyumyummmy !!!!!

My steam generator iron died yesterday and was replaced quite quickly with a lovely one from Amazon that I paid to be express delivered today....guess what it didn't turn up. Just found out that it took 24 hours to get from East Midland to Belfast!!! I could have swam it quicker. So they are delivering tomorrow sometime!!!!!

Then I rang amazon and I was put through to a lady in the Carribbean...lucky lady!!!! She eventually refunded my postage and told me to have a nice day :):):):) Aye right. I have no flippin iron missus, what the bleep. Anyway thats my day Moo. Kids had great time in Belfast at the MTV awards. I have actually driven 3 times in 4 days in and out of that city, lovely though it is I hope I won't be driving the 100 mile round trip for a while again. I am knackered.

Take care moo and keep knitting. Could do with a bit of advice. What size crochet needles would I need for say 4 ply yarn. Just want to start doing little squares to start me off.

I haven't a Scooby Doo. I'd be tempted to grab the first one I could lay my hands on and try it to see what the end result was. A spot of googling suggests that this should be a 4.5-5.5mm hook. But since I'm too cack handed to crochet I only use mine to pick up the stitches I've dropped whilst knitting.... which means now I'm knitting socks I haven't got one small enough and will need to invest in some v. teeny ones in the not too distant future, that or pay more attention to what I'm doing.

Am not entirely sure that the death of an iron would warrant express delivery of anything. I'd be heaping the clothes up in the corner and using the duff iron excuse to ignore it for quite some time. In fact I'd even be tempted to hide the new iron to string this out for as long as humanly possible. Perhaps thats why the housework never seems to get done.

Books from the Book People turned up yesterday as did DD1s school book club order. Wrapped those destined for Christmas gifts plus the dregs of the pressie stash. Just jams and chutneys to label for the weekend and a batch of marmalade to whip up between now and then. Should really dig out some cards to write to go with them too. Got a bit sidetracked after that perusing the contents of the kniitng book which is even more awesome than anticipated. Lots of incredibly simple looking explainations for what I'd assumed were incredibly hard things to do and lots of pictures of things I hadn't known were possible. Theres also a reasonable selection of patterns at the back although mostly stuff that I'd never dream of making. Knitted egg cosy anyone? No, thought not.

In theory the illegal immigrant returns to the grindstone today, will believe it when it happens. I'm down a bar of chocolate if she hasn't sent a text by 3pm to say shes not coming in.

Arrived home yesterday to find Oh had sewn all DD2s cub badges onto her uniform using the sewing machine on the wrong beeping sleeve. Spent an hour and a hlaf unpicking them. Not at all impressed. Apparently his hand hurt too much for him to do it. Its not hurting too much to stop him smoking or detouring home in the wrong direction via a Land Rover salvage yard. Will be most miffed if more decomposing bits of carcass end up in the garden.

Both DDs brought home ridiculous numbers of final demands from school. Do I want to pay £25 to buy a set of books that retail at £8 from the Book People... hmmm....nope. Would I like tickets to a girlie pamaper nighta at a tenner a head...nope....christmas calendar £5 each... again I declined.... logo'd christmas pudding £7... no, no and no again... tickets for the christmas concert... freeeee... and finally a remainder about raffle tickets, sponsor forms, poppies and Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes. It really is never ending. There are days I wish they just asked for a £20 donation to school funds every half term. It would work out a heck of a lot cheaper.

Need a kick up the bum to get me motivated otherwise I'm going to end up wondering what happened to the day. Figured I'd try for a structured day and not allow myself to get sidetracked post cuppa.... the masterplan is as follows:

10am Putting away of laundry and random clutter. Putting stuff on worktops into cupboards and recycling out. Emptying of bins. Loading of tumble drier. Reloading of washing machine

11am Washing up. Laundry folding. Ironing.

Noon Putting away of ironing. More rehoming of clutter. Lunch.

1pm Vacuuming and bog brushing. A spot of sink swooshing and floor mopping

    2pm Quality me time

The incentive being Granny is due on Sunday. Eeeeek.

I'm sorry, what was that? You bet a bar of chocolate on uncertain odds?! Rookie mistake young Moo, rookie mistake... *shakes head*... *shuffles off to ready the RAF to do an emergency choccie drop over Moo's house*

By my watch you should be about to start putting away the ironing - have fun!

    Nora.
  • The thing that worries me about the chocolate bet is that she won't come in but she won't send a text either have you read the terms and conditions in very small print on this bet :)
