Skips in because the OH has a job interview next week. The fact its an internal vacancy and the job has already been earmarked to the useless tit currently on his way to a nervous breakdown is irrelevant. If the useless tit moves up his job becomes vacant and in the time honoured tradition of all things lazy it stands to reason that the interviewees will be offered the lesser position by way of a consolation prize.
Meanwhile I have yet to pin my boss down long enough to hand in my resignation. Hes far too busy showing people round for the much much more important vacancy. It has been quite entertaining though. Cue the wrinkled up noses on the faces of the snake like trail of people wandering round the building as the aroma of three hour old vomit in sunlight hits them full on. Yep some bright person shoved sawdust on it and left it to fester. And fester it did. The eeejot in question (male and new) informed me there was a small stain on his carpet and wasn't overly amused when handed a bottle of 1001 stain remover and a pair of marigolds. I'm too busy to deal with muppets this week.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
In slightly more bonkers news I've signed up for this years charity fundraising Tour de Sock. A pair of socks every 10 days for two months. Clearly I've lost the plot. Again. If anyone happens to be near a bead emporium or can recommend an online one I need to get my hands on 500 8/0 that work with either of these
...... oh yes I've discovered yarn dyeing...... I suppose nows not really the time to mention the unexpected arrival of five Jacobs fleeces is it?Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
I am a single parent. Tis only temporary since OH returns v. soon but for the last few days I've had a glimpse into life with the girls on my own and it ain't pretty. The weekend was fab though. Spent most of it doing crafty bakey messy things with them. They now have drawstring bags and book covers which they made themselves with minimal intervention. I did step in to extract DD1s pjs from her creation but other that that my services weren't required.
I happily spent a day in the kitchen. Obviously not cooking. That would be daft. I had a whole heap of undyed yarn to play with and play I did. By the end of the day the washing line was covered in brightly coloured yarnand I'm part way through a batch of carrot chutney .
Then work rudely encroached on things. Had to leg it part way through my shift to collect DD1 from activities then return to work with her where both DDs were bored stupid. Fianlly left at something approaching 7:30. Collected dinner from the chippie. Fed them, shoved them in the bath and sent them to bed. No time to supervise homework or do anything else with themTo top it off DD2 was away on a residential trip last week and came home with a stinker of a cold so the last thing she wants to do is be stuck at school all day.
Will be most glad when he gets home. Even more glad if he gets the job. Perhaps something more challenging at work will be the kick up the bum he needs. Hes finally started to sort himself out. Hes getting more excercise, losing weight and has reduced his drinking to something approaching normal levels again. how long it lasts is anyones guess but for now things are goodSaving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -

Well actually....... not this time, but without the sugar it would dye quite well. Apparently carrot tops make a fab yellow and you need vinegar to make the water acidic. The addition of garlic and spices would make for an interesting aroma though.
Am taking a break from a day of domestic drudgery in anticipation of the OHs arrival home. The kitchen is devoid of washing up and the laundry chair can actually be used to sit on. I suspect he'll leap to the conclusion that I'm up to something.
Waiting to hear how his interview went and hoping they'll decide today who gets what. Suspect the ultimate promotion will go to the maleable yet useless person who is already a step above the OH on the corporate ladder. Still that should free up a slot. What they decide is anyones guess.
Detoured home via the sewing mcahine shop for some new needles. Stayed to oooooooh over a machine that sews sheep outlines. Most impressed. Won't be getting one though. It would be cheaper to buy a car and insure it for a 17 year old to drive. Still they did have some lovely machines. Not that I need one, not until the one I've got dies catastrophically. Every time I swear at it DD1 helpfully offers me hers which works perfectly everytime. Theres a lot to be said for vintage machinery.
Off to hoover like a woman possessed in the hopes that I have enough time to scrape toothpaste splats from every flat surface in the bathroom. Buying rechargeable toothbrushes for the demonic daughters was a humungous mistake.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
that wool is pretty much my two favourite colours, so nice dyeing moo!
Hope OH gets the job, and you can get out of yours.
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

I've been awol. I blame it all on insanely competative sock knitting. In the meantime life has moved on rather rapidly. OH didn't get the promotion but since the chap who did get it is a gibbering wreck the OH isn't really that bothered which is just as well really.
I finally handed in my notice and become a full time slob at the end of term. Not quite sure what I'll end up doing next but I've got until September to come up with a cunning plan or two. Really looking forward to spending the entire summer at home with the girlsSaving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500
