It's now almost 3 weeks since I handed in my notice and as yet my boss hasn't got round to advertising my job. Am I stressed by this? Heck yes. Should I be? Noooooooo but I am anyway. More and more and more shoite is being shovelled in my direction. I'm counting down the days until I escape what has become a prison sentence. The school holidays can't come fast enough.

Still clueless what I'm going to do next. Nothing on the adult education market appeals so I've decided to teach myself to quilt. I mean I'm cack handed with a sewing machine (when it decides to work) and completely clueless about quilting, but theres only so much trouble I can get into.

I think I've almost got my head round the mahoosive drop in income. The OH got a payrise which helps, especially as his payrise works out at about a tenth my salary after tax. Not that his wage is huge, but rather that mine is pathetic.

I'm currently stockpiling crafty stuff so that I can avoid spending any money on that sort of thing for the next year. I might even have got a bit carried away and aquired enough stuff to keep me busy for two years..... we'll have to see how that goes. I've found a craft group within cycling distance so I'm hoping to keep my car usage to the absolute minimum, I figure the less money I spend on fuel the further I can make it go. We can't manage with one car, simply because we can't get DD2 to school without one, but giving up my car has crossed my mind on more than one occassion. It's not practical if the OH is sent away on the on again off again course for an extended period, although alls gone quiet on that front for the moment.

Ohther than my boss being a merchant banker (although only for another 20 working days) things are going rather well :)

I'm freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Actually I've been free for almost a week but I haven't actually had time to do anything. I've been too busy having fun :)

I collected the swanky new sewing machine on my way home after my last day at work. Tis truly fabulous. I played about a bit figuring out how it worked and then dived in at the deep end to reupholster some chairs we were given over a decade a go. I figured they couldn't look any worse than they already did and anything would be better than paying Ercol £280 per chair. It's a very long slow process but the end result is beyond my wildest dreams..... mind you I hadn't set my standards overly high.

Money is a niggling concern. We can manage comfortably on OHs alary providing he quits smoking....... otherwise I need to find another job sharpish.

Overall I'm far happpier than I've been in a very long time. I'm even managing to sleep through the night which is something I haven't done for about 3 years.

Debating trying clothes making, although neither of the demonic daughters is overly keen.... can't think why.

Oh yes indeedy I'm having a ball. I am at one with my sewing machine. Nothing is safe. Am ruthlessly decluttering wardrobes to expand my fabric stash.

We managed a holiday. An actual holiday. Without any relatives. Am still getting over the shock. And the laundry.

This weeks plans involve many job applications in the hopes of finding a boredom busting job to start once the demoic daughters return to school.

Money is slightly less of a concern after the powers that be paid me for a full month last month. Whether thats an oversight on their part remains to be seen but for the moment I have considerably more money in the bank than I was expecting to have :)

Struggling to get my head round this having nothing to do all day malarky. Still feel like I'm in holiday mode, although I've yet to watch Jeremy Kyle so things aren't that bad. Yet.

That chair looks lovely. Is it all different denim. Very cool. Maybe your 'job' is right there in front of you.....

And so death by ritual humiliation begins.

I went to the job centre to sign on for 6 months worth of Jobseekers allowance. I arrived 15 minutes early and was told to wait 5 minutes. 20 minutes later I enquired again only to be told I'd missed my appointment and have to go back next week.

Pants, pants and pants again. If I wasn't really !!!!ed off I could cry.
