Yet more financial faux pas and many other disasterous decisions

Managed an 11 hour day at work yesterday. Made the fatal mistake of deciding to have a cuppa instead of emptying the playground bins so that I had something to do today. This means I have woken up to a torrential downpour. I'm going to get ver very very wet.
OH and DD2 had a great day off with a bike ride round the park and a trip to Burger King. Came home to find her grooming a horse on the Wii whilst OH slumbered on the sofa.
Finally have a delivery date for OHs shed... three days after I come off the operating table. Guess that particular erection will have to wait.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Operating table? Did I miss something? Are you alright?

Perfectly fine although I have the sort of dental plaque that requires a gum resection and four hours of surgery at the hospital. Oh joy.
Meanwhile have just made a monumental balls up. Fianlly got round to doing the salary hokey cokey. Transferred cash through various banks to qualify for incentives and avoid fees for not earning enough and then threw my surplus at the debt remembering seconds after clicking the button that I'd set up a £300 direct debit to a savings account. Muppet. My bank balance is significantly less than this. Will need to work miracles to sort that one out.
Started by emptying my paypal account and shuffling money from other accounts barely leaving them in credit. Suppose thats an incentive to get on with parcelling up tat for Zapper and listing shed loads more on flea bay.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Having the day from hell. Not to be mistake with the !!!!!! day from hell which occurred yesterday and saw some delightful child treading dog shoite into two classrooms worth of carpet resulting in much unplanned carpet cleaning.
Today started with two wet beds and the absence of school trousers and swimming gear resulting in me being incredibly late for work and v. grumpy too. Arrived to find my boss had attempted to override the heating boilers by twiddling every knob and pushing every button he could find instead of the one that mattered, although by the time he'd pushed that one he'd turned off all the circulating pumps so the only warm place in the building was the boiler house.
So I have huge amounts of laundry to do and the rain is pouring off the roof in torrents. Bah.
Off to consume hot chocolate and buttery toast in the hopes that I discovcer my va va voom in the very near future.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Hi Moo
Your last few days have been tough. Hopefully things will get better. There are times when you realise there are not enough hours in the day. Hope you enjoy your choc and toast. Sounds lovely. My advice is do what has to be done and the rest will get done eventually. I am sure you will be glad to get that dental work over with. I had something similar done last year. Life not simple. All the best with your ebaying etc.:)"You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream"C. S. Lewis

Ventured into the post office yesterday with a giant box destined for Zapper. Came out £3.50 better off having sold a truly hideous tea cosy that wouldn't shift anywhere else. Hopefully that also menas a cheque for £16 will arrive from Zapper in the not too distant future. Whilst on a roll I packaged up another box of books for the charity shop and waded through DD1s wardrobe liberating a bin bag full of knackered stuff for the cash for clothing place. Will do the same with DD2s room and visit them at some point next week. Listed another couple of items on fleabay too. Its all small amounts but it goes a fair way to digging me out of the hole I've dug for myself and it clears a lot more tat out of the house too.
Plans for today involve a dump and run at the charity shop and a trip to the nearby Mr Ts armed with a £6 off a £40 voucher. The tricky part will be sticking to £40.
Further plans involve scaling Mount Ironmore and tackling the dirty laundry pile which is growing exponentially. Will also need to wash my edding after waking up to find the hound from hell snoring away under the duvet and slobbering on OHs pillow.
Further plans involve paying for a years worth of phone line rental upfront to avoid paying £5 a month more after Talk Talks latest price hike.... obviously this would be so much easier if their website was working and I wasn't having my usual intermittent broadband issues.
And if thats not enough its incredibly muddy so all the floors need mopping and the bathroom needs cleaning.... perhaps a flame thrower would do the trick.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Failed miserably in Mr Ts and ended up spending £57 simply because there were too many whoopsies to ignore. Did feel a tad overdressed though as the other shoppers were still wearing PJs.
Have the first load of laundry on the airer, the second is in the drier and the third is whooshing round in the machine.
Two boxes of tat abandoned at the charity shop. Denture tablets fizzing away in the loos. I' m determined to get rid of all the limescale.
Next up a couple of things on E-bay and a spot of washing up before venturing into DD2s room.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -

Hi moo - do you use the denture tablets as this is what your septic tank will let you use? I found bailing out all the water and then using commercial limescale remover (Viakal type stuff) was necessary here, but we're on main drains so don't need to be so careful with the harmful chemicals!
I tried denture tablets in our teapot to try and break down some of the scale and it failed dismally!

Have to be v. careful what goes intot he spetic tank as killing off the lurgi lurking within results in it needing emptying within months at £150 a time rather than every 5-10 years. Means I can't use any harsh chemicals for anything or throw too much vinegar into it as this affects the pH balance of the tank whilch also kills off the lurgi. Guess I'm back to scrubbing it on a daily basis in the hopes that this shifts it.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Have you tried a pumice stone
Its hard enough to remove the limestone but soft enough to not damage the porcelainMortgage Aug 12 £165K, Aug 19 £0
