hi
i've been given a parking charge notice from excel parking services, on 19.7.11.parking was free for 30min but i did not realise i need to still show a ticket.
i may have done the wrong thing but i have sent them a email to appeal also giving them my name and address and also sayin it was me driving.how do i stand should i just pay
cheers lee0 -
Now you've fessed up you might have to!
The issue above is that they contact the registered owner, not necessarily the driver on the day. No say you were the registered owner and your mrs parked the car then, they cannot fine you as you entered no contract with them.
However, now you've replied and basically said "I did it" you might be screwed.

You are still in the clear - they can only sue you for their loss, if it's free parking their loss is zero.
Any demand for more than this will be a penalty (they may glam it up by calling it "liquidated damages", but this is also nonsense) and private companies can't impose penalties.
Relax and ignore.0 -
it was only free for the 1st 30 min after that you need to pay,to get the free parking you needed to get a ticket from the machine to display0

NO. It's a scam. Read the parking board-http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163
Plenty of information on how to ignore Excel and similar cowboys there.0 -

Others are right, they need to stick you with the actual cost which is nowt.
The issue with sticking your head up and giving them a name is it all gets more personal, they know there is a person on the end so it could go on a lot longer but as others have said, ignoring it should get you sorted even if it all goes a bit mad!
